Yeah, I plugged in my 19V laptop AC adapter because it had the right plug and I didn't have any other wall warts and it would work for about 30 seconds before the heat would drive the display crazy.
:wtf:... The suggested voltage for the Kenometer Lites id 9V DC...
That is more than double the Voltage...
That's like plugging your house lights into 220Vac...
would be nice and bright.... for a few milliseconds...
I hope you haven't damaged the DC/DC converter or the
electronics in the Thermopile Head...:cryyy:

oh I'm sorry. the one I was using was 1A but it will take higher. You can also run it up to 18v if you can't find anything in the 9v-12v range. I would recommend lower as the lm7805 does get hot and the more current and voltage you feed it the hotter it will get. Which of course will skew the readings of the thermopile just a little bit.
I would recommend anythhing from 500ma-1A
