Jetlasers GB #3 is CLOSED -

Just an idea for GB #4 and beyond. Has JL ever thought of doing some more exotic wavelengths in portables? I've been asking Glenn about 515s from CNI, but they don't seem to want to do it. Something like 561 or something around the 490-500nm range would be very interesting as well. Any thoughts on that, hak or Gray?

You know, I think the entire forum is kinda warming up to the idea of newer and exotic wavelengths. They're possible, but none of the manufacturers seem too keen on producing them. I really think whoever could do it in a manageable way in a portable would get a lot of orders....

I´m not sure if JETLASERS is able to make these special WL. But if yes, this would be awesome.

#4??? :pop: LOL

since i am not hearing--'no GB#4' I am hoping there will be one.

Gray is stressed about the delay in shipping #3 even tho it is not his fault-and the long new years holiday came at the worst time for us- so I am thinking he wants to make all happy by doing at least one more GB.
IMHO the 250/532nm is still the best bang per buck. A way overspec $498(PLUS shipping)IR filtered weatherproof PL-C for ~$340 to your door.
comes w/ 1 year warr. glasses/charger and usually another freebee item thrown in. The focus has been improved and with the long duty cycle and shock proof solid Al. host its a keeper.

stay tuned

Sounds excellent! Uncle Sam came through so I am prepared. I imagine that there will be others in the same boat as well.
I have read nothing but good things about you and JetL. The opportunity that Hak and Gray are providing to the community is very generous and appreciated! Keep up the good work!

Thanks Hak, Madog for your understanding!!

Yes, i've been stressed but being stressed means nothing. We've got to move.
Now 800mw is not realizable for now due to a lot of factors including jetlasers' incapability and the individual variation of each diode we worked on. 700-750mw is a realizable goal now and having delayed these items for so long, we have to stop here for the moment and would be happy to increase the power output when we come up with better results.

Our deep apologies for everything!Jetlasers is more than willing to refund some for the power output that fails to reach the expected spec we claimed at first.

I will sort out the GB items and ship them out next Monday.

For the possible GB4, it will be good if we can add the 3x and 5x beam expanders(Beam expanders by Jetlasers - 3x, 5x and 10x beam expanders with high optical specs.) to GB4 since some testing results are positive and the specs are close to expanders sold at Edmund products. Hak will help jetlasers test them in the first time.

I will talk more later!
Thanks to all you kind guys!

Thanks for the update Gray.
Like I said in another post- I have a 660mWs 12X and 700 to 750mWs is still l lot of 405nm-

JETLASERS can only works with what the have- We all know there are some diodes that outperform ones found in the same sleds and we all know this isnt the norm-thus we call them 'freaks'

So all that being said ,I , for one will surely be happy if my JETL 12X is a rock steady 700mWs with a good run time. IIRC I have about 250$ in my 660mWs 12X- aurora SS host-copper HS by FP w/ custom EZ focus-aixiz glass lens- diode cost and build cost-- so to have one in Pl-C with all the safety features & charger-glasses - i year warranty and free extra goodies----IMO still a great laser at a great price. If we get a little rebate... the laser is even sweeter.

If anyone wants out --that will be N/P even after they get shipped to me.

If anyone can find a legit 12X in a PL-C type host please post a link in this thread.

There won´t be ANY different between 700mW and 800mW, we are very near at the UV end of the our visible spectrum. And when it comes to burning; 800mW will lit a 1feet away match in 0.78sec, a 700mW maybe need 0.80sec (ballpark figure). Hope this helps ;)

^^^ exactly my point-- JETL is always being upfront and one cannot say that about very may other makers. They would just call the as < 1 watt meaning no more than 1000mWs. Jetl likes thiers to all be > --overspec . So w/o a lpm you would never know you had a 700mW instead of a 800mWs.

appreciate your input on this.

Great. This makes my decision tougher. On one hand, I want as much green as I can get. On the other hand, I would like to have a beam expander. Decisions decisions!

A beam expander would be awesome. Just have two questions about them: What wavelengths of light can they take, and what diameter of host are they designed to fit onto? And then depending on the answer from the last question, what kind of power can they take?

^^^ good question

I assumed they were made to fit on the PL-C hosts and that any wavelength or power could have its beam expanded. When I get mine I will know for sure all those answers. I will put up a review w/ pics asap.
