Ironically, this is what they want...to turn it INTO a Muslim Holy War.

They use the twisted ideology to justify the twisted actions...but, they are Muslims in name only. The individual participants are convinced they are fighting for their god and religion though...much as the Christian Crusaders were.

The Crusaders were terrorists in that time period, so, that hatred runs as deep for them, as our hatred of the current pack of roaches does.

Take two sides that have that level of hatred, both fighting for their religion and to defend their faith and way of life...and, you don't expect it to be settled in a board room.

The problem with squashing roaches is that they will simply scatter when danger threatens. There will be no large pitched battles that settle this.

There can be large pitched battles that tell them its time to scatter...but they will melt back into their populations of innocent, and not so innocent sympathizers etc.

After they scatter, its back to Vietnam, Iran, Iraq, etc...you can't tell the good from the bad...and, frankly, its best a police action from that point forward, rather than a military one.

Star Light, ISIS doesn't equal the Nazi's in their sickening barbarity, they surpass it by far, the Nazis were never equal to ISIS.

If you haven't already heard, the city of Palmyra in Syria in just the last several hours has fallen to ISIS. This now gives ISIS control of more than half of the former country of Syria, Palmyra was first settled in the early second millennium BC as a caravan stop for travelers crossing the Syrian Desert. It is located 215 km (134 mi) to the northeast of the Syrian capital Damascus, it was an oasis, surrounded by palms, and along a caravan rout, that's why a settlement started there nearly 4000 years ago. This is the first time that ISIS has taken control of a city directly from the Syrian military. Palmyra is or was a Unesco World Heritage site filled with ancient ruins that will now be leveled to the ground in the hours and days ahead.

It is now clear that the former Syria will soon be lost, unless the Russians directly intervene to save them. I doubt that will happen, with the current temporary low oil prices and the new Cold War, the problems in the Ukraine, and NATO expansion on their borders, the Russians have to worry about their own future first.

We have only seen the beginning of what is yet to come. I will have more to say on this in the near future.

Sad, that is one thing that is just crazy how they can destroy irreplaceable and priceless historical artifacts :( :( :( . it's not like the artifacts are against/fighting THEM!
It almost seams like they DON'T like history at all, but then to destroy it without reason. :(.

If only destroying priceless artifacts where the only thing they did...

That is truely an atrocity cause aren't some of them from some of the oldest civilaztions like Mesopotamia in Iraq and the Assyrians in Syria?

It's sad just to see the lack of care about this. These extremists have created an atrocious lie that deceives the people who join them into thinking they are fighting for justice.

I took a world religion class and I learned the goal of Islam is peace. Just like Christianity is love.

Killing innocents and destroying things that violate your religion is "peace"?

Nope ISIS is an abomination , one that goes against Islamic values and innate human moral values. It's a cult , one of pure evil if you ask me.

I don't know why it is so, but my thought is if a group of religious radicals from any other religion were to be doing these terrible things, I believe they would be squashed much quicker. Reminds me of the extra room given to some political parties and politicians who shouldn't be so well tolerated, i.e. too often now it seems if you are a minority or a woman in politics today, you can be far more corrupt than right winger conservatives with only a shug for your misdeeds, where they would be run out of office or perhaps land in jail for the same offense..

It is a complex situation and there is more to it than this, but imagine if this group were a bunch of Jews, Christians, or perhaps Hindu killing Muslims if they don't convert to their religion, what would the worlds response be then? Pick any religion and replace the Muslim factor with them instead and I think there would be far more fire going on over there against them.

From what I just read in the news it looks like the opposite.

No can of Coke for Muslim woman? American Islamic backlash simmers

People are having an outcry against Muslims due to recent world events.

A major factor to consider is the REACTION of the people vs reaction by a government.

If "Muslims" attack Christians for example, lets say for example, some Saudi Backed Terrorists knock down the Twin Towers in NYC, we - as a country, fly into action, and bomb Afghanistan still further into the stone age in retaliation after making sure the terrorists responsible are not there any more..

We make sure Bin Laden can't escape to, oh, lets say Pakistan where he is considered a hero, by having the Pakistani Military "Prevent his Escape" (Which = escort him to Pakistan...).

We then further punish the Saudi Backed Terrorists by attacking Iraq, because the Saudis are threatened by Iraq's military, and what better way to punish them than killing off a threat to them.

Iran is thrilled too, as Iraq also threatened them, so, in a decisive strategic military operation, we severely punished the Saudi Backed Terrorists by escorting their leader to safety, and killing off their competition.

THAT aught to teach them not to mess with 'Merica!

Foot Note - US GOV goes under new management, doesn't seem to know that we already punished the bad guys - and goes to Pakistan and kills Bin Laden.

This really upsets our close friends and Allies, the Pakistanis, because it showed we didn't trust them, and, their feelings were REALLY hurt....I mean, after escorting Bin Laden, and his family and entourage, to Pakistan, housing them in a compound, giving them nearby government forces as protection...just as we asked them to, we then break in and wreck the place w/o even telling them first?

That was RUDE!

All we had to do is have Bush pass Obama a note that explained the game plan, where Bin Laden was, etc...and it would have saved at least one copter.
