Introducing Radiant Electronics and the Radiant Alpha Power Meter

Hey I was just thinking.

With everyone posting pictures with your laser meter in full site I think it would be a great idea for you to put a big quality foil sticker on the front. It would have the name of the meter and your company name. Just like any other product would have. You're missing out on a ton of free advertising. People are always asking where someone got that meter from.

Thats a good idea I'm going make one for mine. All tho I don't think he needs more advertising.. he'd need to have a inventory.... :na:

I could just be unlucky but everything I meter seems unusually low. My 445 set at 1200mA meters 1007mW max. My "superbeast" green which many others find to be 50-80mW metered at 30mW max. My ebay pointers which most find to be 20-40mW came out at 7-10mW. My LOC which I believed to be 300mW or just under meters at 251mW.

Its just odd that everything is consistently low. anyone else run into this?

Sounds like your expecting too much. A 1.2A 445 could be 900-1400mW depending on the diodes efficiency. Same thing with all others. Just because just because someone bought the same style laseer as you does not mean it will be the exact same power, also a red usually cones I'n around 250-300mW the higher ones than that have the 650-g-1 lens normally. These meters are calibrated so what your seeing is what they are asfar as I know.

I know about variance in diode efficiency its just odd that ALL of my diodes fall in the low efficiency range. I tested a dozen 532nm pointers and 9 405nm pointers as well as others. Im not claiming my meter is inaccurate I was just seeing if anyone else noticed the same trend.

According to this thread http://laserpointerforums.com/f65/list-445nm-diodes-51897.html
My 445 is lower than any other diode near that current setting.

Its just odd

Funny you say that, I just had another customer return his meter for a calibration check, saying his was also consistently reading low. However in my testing I found it to be right on spec with its original calibration. I also double checked it with several of my other lasers and found it to be reading correctly.

All of the numbers you posted seem well within normal parameters for those lasers.

In any case I'll be double checking my other meters to make absolute sure it's not a problem on my end.

Have any of your lasers been measured by members with other LPM's?

No thats what I was thinking of doing to check it. I was thinking I could maybe just sell one of my 405nm pointers to someone with an LPM for say $8 shipped with the same batteries. (any takers?)

Then I dont have to pay shipping both ways and the 405s are a lot more stable then the 532nm.

Don't be sad, you don't have the most inefficient diode ever
I have a a140 at 1.37A doing 1085mW

Good to know haha like I said im not making any claims about the meter just trying to make sense of the readings im getting. Im going to try and have a pointer tested by another member.

you could just send one unit off and see how the results turn out

I'll test it on my LaserBee II. PM me for details.

@Helios Hey bud you don't need to worry he calibrated them all at the same time. I got mine and everything matches the same reading that the Member who sold it to me took on his LaserBee II.

If you want to sell your laser go for it but I think your meter is good

Just letting you guys know, another batch is almost finished, weekend ended up being pretty busy with homework.

excellent...been watching thread all weekend.
hopefully the laser gods will smile upon me this round
