INTEREST GAUGE for PHAZOR Diodes -- 200mW CW!!!

Daedal, I'm still waiting for those graphs I asked for a while ago. I hate to push the issue, but I've yet to see anything more than very weak evidence that these are any better than Greg's diodes. The current/power versus voltage graph will go a long way to showing just how much better, or not, these diodes are

I agree with you...I would like to see the graphs too.

Ok... Good news... So, these will be available by the 1st of February. Only 50 available now. Orders will be shipped to me via 3-day, as usual, but delivery to you will be through regular ground shipping. This will be $2-3 on a purchase of 1-10. Shipping is charged once per order.

The price on these will be an incredible $32. This should cover the packaging, the shipping, the wire transfer... etc.

Now... if you will be buying, please post on here letting me know.

Thanx;
DDL

I'm still in for 2 DDL.
Thanks,
Jay

Tempting offer, i'm probably in for one or two as well.

For some reason i've recently blown up a few of the sony diodes, gotta find the fault there first before i fire these up ;)

Re: INTEREST GAUGE for PHAZOR Diodes -- 200mW CW!!

Hi Daedal,

I'll probably go for 2 to start - but I'd REALLY like to see the power curves on these first. I love the sonys, but I am making a high power combiner project now and if I can get higher power individual diodes, it'll be worth it.

Thanks,

Dave

I have built an automatic computerised laser diode testing setup for precise and repeatable curve measurement.
here is a link to one of the graphs from a senkat diode. Note that this is 4 ramps with the traces overlapped (each run's trace falls almost exactly on top of one another, thus the varying 'thickness' of the line).

Note that this particular laser sample has a strange power dip near the top, but no Voltage dip.

It can also do lifetime tests and stress tests to see if there is minute output sagging over time.

If you wish, you can send me one of these 200mW diodes in a aixiz case and I'll mount it into my test setup and run tests (you can specify the tests and ranges if you wish), then I'll send it back.

Let me know, DDl!

Have you put these on Google payment thing yet ??

Something seems odd with your chart. If I am looking at it correctly, it shows there would be more than 4 volts going to the diode at 250ma's. My SenKat diode has 3 volts across it at 250ma's.

Yep, you're looking at it wrong. The blue plot goes with the blue y-axis and the other goes with the right y axis. If you extrapolate the voltage curve, it will be 3V at 250mA.

Re: INTEREST GAUGE for PHAZOR Diodes -- 200mW CW!!

That long, lower straight line is Vld.  One of my old charts reads 2.95 volts at 250 mA.

Mike

DrL -- Did you ever figure out that "glitch" at 210 mA ??

Re: INTEREST GAUGE for PHAZOR Diodes -- 200mW CW!!

the glitch was the power output of that particular diode at that particular current. Another diode I have tested did not have that decrease.
In some ways, this system could be used to detect failure-prone diodes this way, since some apparently go multimode at lower currents.

Re: INTEREST GAUGE for PHAZOR Diodes -- 200mW CW!!

That's pretty slick!

Re: INTEREST GAUGE for PHAZOR Diodes -- 200mW CW!!

GREAT -- I suspected that single diode all along. Nice system you have there :D

Re: INTEREST GAUGE for PHAZOR Diodes -- 200mW CW!!

That is one odd kink in the chart, especially since it seems to continue on its original curve in the last 2 datapoints... were you able to see anything strange happening to the output pattern at that current? Like a strange shift in lines or something like that?

I think it would be useful to send one of these '200 mW' diodes for this test - wouldn't have to be destructive.
