Nopey! They don't have a central nervous system.[/quote]

Unfreakenbelievable!

How do you think that their brain communicates with the rest of their body then?

Why does bug spray (which is a nerve agent) kill them then?

Here ya go. Everything you ever waned to know about cockroaches (with central nervous systems)

Useful post :D

But you can't really tell if they feel pain by how they're built. If you're really drunk and high you can punch through a window and feel no pain because your concious self doesn't recognize it anymore even though pain signals are being transmited from your arm to your brain through your nervous system. You still don't feel any discomfort. If you light a flame near a cockroach it will probably have the tendancy to move away(just like shining a laser on a spider :D).If they really feel displeasure/discomfort/pain or is their "system" just detecting "potential harmful agents" and it's "processor" commands it to move away to conserve itself unconciously you can't really tell. Can't really tell if they're concious or not or how much are they......they don't really have a solid definition of conciusness anyway, but when it comes to cockroaches it's probably on a very low level.

Game raptor pellets suck, they are inaccurate. I have a beeman RS2. Oh right, with a LASER on it.

yeah i figured out they sucked as soon as I opened the container and saw how nonuniform they are :'(
they look cool though and thats all that really matters 8-) jk

Agreed. The perception of "pain" is subjective. I reacted to the comment that they don't have a central nervous system, and just by association, that they wouldn't feel pain. Heck kill 'em all. I use all out chemical warfare against 'em. Just don't "justify" it with unsupported assertions that make yourself feel good.

Oh yeah. . . . and remember, most serial killers started out by killing "lesser" species [smiley=evil.gif]

Although I haven't read about any well known serial killers who began by killing with lasers. ;)

Peace,
dave

Yeah but only a small percentage of the kids that burn ants with a lens become serial killers. You have to have that special "something" that makes you go further ::)

Anyway, about the cockroach, it had a quick and firey death. It didn't feel much pain. The value of it's life is insignificant, so everybody can slep well at night. ::)

And about feeling good, I feel damn good when I kill mosquitos. With mosquitos it's personal. They hate me.And I have some kind of alergic reaction to mosquito bites and it itches really annoyingly. And I can get the fact that all they want is to suck my blood , but why the hell do they have to sting me several times a night? :-/ That's why I hate them.I like to cut them ,burn them, freeze them, laser them to death or kill them in any other exotic way.I just worry because maybe they don't feel pain after all....I sure hope they do though.... ::)

If people are getting so politically correct that they have to feel sorry for cockroaches, then please stop the world, I wanna get off.
There's a huge chasm between a cockroach (insect) and a rat (mammal), and they shouldn't be lumped together in the same sentence. I like little furry creatures, but I lose no sleep whatsoever about killing insects. Just put out a termite bait that may (hopefully) kill millions. Muhaha.
This didn't really even deserve another post but I couldn't stop myself.

I dont think the real issue here is the cockroach itself. I think its more that the original poster's idea of fun was killing living things. I dont really feel bad about killing bugs, but my idea of having a good time is not killing bugs or living things either. A pest problem is different. You're killing a whole group for the sole purpose of a better living environment, not just to have fun doing it.
