I'm glad I made that yellow thread...

Because a friend read that thread, and offered to sell me his.

Noting here that I didn't put this in reviews, because I don't actually know the original make, so I can't really use it as a review.

Just arrived via usps about 2 hours ago. Just had a chance to get the camera, so here are some pics. I'll see what I can do about a beam shot as it gets a bit darker or I get some fog.

Dot from 2 ft away (note white reflection makes dot look more orange and a lot larger than in reality) that keyboard got left under a leaky duct, and permanently looks nasty btw

dot from 12ft away. (once again, is more amber in person)

I've been told that it outputs around 10mw by a dependable source. I can tell that tonight is going to be entertaining. :D

Who did you buy it from, how much did it cost, is it 593 or a 650/532nm mix etc. 10mW is huge output for a true 593nm yellow!

I bought it from a friend. Paid around $300 for it. He LPM'd it before sending it so me, said it averaged around 9-10mw. I'm guessing it's a true 593 considering that there's only one apeture, one button. That and the color looks like "true yellow" sort of an amber color, instead of the color I've seen in the 650/532 ones.

He said it was a CNI, nvm, I DO know the make.

Based on the picture I would say it is a 593.5nm CNI build, same as Rigel from LG an the yellows from DL. Very nice quality.

If it is outputting 10mw you got your hands on a very good sample, congrats! While CNI do offer a multicolor portable laser (RGY), it in a larger host though. So rest assured that is a DPSS.

Thanks! I can't wait till it gets dark, considering how muggy it is in the mid-atlantic, I should be able to get some beam shots. If not, fog it is.

Btw, I just watched Time Bandits about a month ago and I definitely remember that quote. (Your sig)

Post up some beamshots when you get them, can never see too many. Incense is also good for beamshots as it lingers in the room for quite a while.

Haha, yeah the quote is pretty much all I remember. It is quite an interested movie though. Prefer Brazil from Terry Gilliam repertoire though.

I will as soon as I get back. Probably out in the tree fort, since it doesn't matter if it gets foggy. I guess this thread could be moved to the reviews board after all.

You've got 1000% more power than the one on regular 593nm lasers, cool stuff :)

I demand beamshots.

10mW for a CNI yellow pen is almost unheard of, DPSS 593.5nm is horribly inefficient so that 10mW unit is a one of a kind. Congrats on your purchase!

I have bought at least 5 of these most direct from CNI. I am pretty sure only CNI makes these, and when sold as a 5 mW these cost about $490 new! Great deal!
btw, my GB price on these is $315 shipped in USA, but the output may peak anywhere from 4 to 10 mW and these are often affected a lot by temperature and batteries. CNI will not sell one rated above 5 mW! :) -Glenn

This is dpss or direct diode? Anyway, 10mW sounds way higher than what a yellow laser constructed in such a small host was ever able to output lol

Yours,
Albert

More Pictures, some side by side with my o-like 200mw red.

Hallucynogenyc, it was LPM'd by a friend on here, who I trust to tell me what it's outputting. He said "9-10mw". So I go with 10mw, because it's an even number, and I like even numbers.

Aiming it relatively close to the camera lens, any movement is caused by my incredibly shaky hands (why I can't do DIY projects)

Comparison Between the Red and Yellow.

I'll probably upload some of the shots I took outside in a bit.

Btw, in normal daytime, the dot looks as bright as the red. And yes, I went a little crazy with the fog. I was looking for my fog machine when I stumbled across a whole bunch of my old DJ equipment, which had like 5 HUGE fog machines. I hooked them all up at once and blasted them, just for kicks. That room is a woodshop in my basement with a vacuum system and air filtration, I figured it'd help with the "clean up". Seems to be more orange to me, but in the daytime, the dot looks amber.

bad ass!!!!

can't wait for my 1mw dragons lasers yellow to arrive

yellow and red is a sick combo.. underrated

More Pics:

camera is facing laser, they're about 10ft away. Taken inside the treehouse after I let some incense burn for like 5min.
treeYelbeamatcam.jpg

Also in the treehouse, Laser is pointing sorta away from the camera.
I have to note here that the fog was way thicker than that smoke... waaaay thicker. Difference is in how dark the rooms were I guess.
