I Do Not Enjoy Them More !

ArcticDude, nothing against you. I just guess that your great work on building this awesome RGB might discourage the 3DLaSeRBuiLDeR, instead of inspire. That's nothing wrong with you or your project. If this is the case, this is only the problem how this is perceived. I guess that as this thread appeared after you posted in your thread.

I know that wasnt against me, Radim! :tinfoil:
I was just wondering how he was able to mis it, even that material was mentioned so many times..

Me too... Whatever... I'm not sure, what happend and what was the real reason, so I guess and speculate only. I was only looking forward to see some of his projects related to 3D printing coming. I thought I could learn from them a lot.

For a guy whose profile says his business is 3D, why no contact info, no web site? He indicated he was a laser builder and did 3D printing, but nothing more to see. Giving him a benefit of a doubt, regardless of the inconsistencies, I'd like to see more than some photo's posted here. I haven't really followed his posts enough to be able to HMT sticker him, apologies.

Yup, thats what makes me curious too. Plus, That he was not able to identify different 3D printing mateirals. Even I can say if printed material is PETG or ABS and I have ever owned a 3D printer. -If you are in industry these kind of stuff should have known even keeping your eyes shut. And secondly, if you're in the industry the basic material is PA2200 (Nylon) and technique for printing would be SLS.

EDIT
Nothing against to him, but some of these things have made me scratching my head

I donno, paranoia will destroy ya and all that, but I've been in the forum long enough to sniff these guys out fairly fast. I believe either a banned member, or a current long term member in good standing is just having fun trying to see how elaborate he can be in convincing us, but there was perfect English as well as slang mixed into his terrible sentence structure, those don't go together, not normally.

I think it would be same kind of situation if you claim that you own a machinery shop but still you are not able to identify differences of copper and aluminium..

I hope that all is going to be well in his life.

Does this guy remind anyone else of Isaac Clark? All of the crazy promises and planned projects which never had anything but fluff behind them.

And yes, the rep system is a mess. I contributed to the mess myself back during the sci-fi lasers mess. I probably gave Thejoker301 10+ neg reps myself by spamming +rep on all the members I could find. Other people also did, and that event alone caused a lot of rep inflation. I've thought of a few ideas which 'might' help save the system, but idk if they're worth it.
1-Simply divide all current rep amounts by 100 or something like that.
2-I think there needs to be a way to get a members rep down faster. Perhaps multiple sequential neg reps in a row should have some kind of cumulative effect. -10% total rep for every neg in a row after the first. IE if you got 2 negs in a row you would get an additional -10% total rep. 3 negs in a row would get you an additional -20%, and so on. This wouldn't penalize normal posers too much because normally you shouldn't be getting several neg reps in a row.

I don't know if the forum software can do any of those functions, we are locked into what the system can do. I suppose someone could spend a long time editing out reps, if that is even possible, but a strait division, I bet isn't.

...he was fake, pretended to have poor english...

We all know you love a good conspiracy theory. But where is the motive here? What possible social standing or personal improvement could he stand to gain from such a large undertaking? Would the effort of purposely misprinting hundreds and hundreds of posts REALLY be an even trade for this supposed gain you have in mind?

Does the default position of "foreigners aren't always good with English" REALLY seem implausible to you? I just don't see the reasoning here.

There's more to it for why I think he was someone just yanking our chains, but I'm not going to point it out.

Then why call it to attention?

Repping isn't an endorsement, maybe it was in the past, but now is a kindness

I'd posit this change in collective sentiment is the reason rep is even more meaningless than it was previously.

For a guy whose profile says his business is 3D, why no contact info, no web site?

I haven't been paying much attention, but to be fair, most of us don't post our company contact information to the public.

paranoia will destroy ya

Re: Out of control rep system:

A member who had the highest rep. was using them to attack people, circumventing giving plus reps to most active members by repping old inactive accounts to meet the requirement of spreading the reps around before being able to rep an individual again, this to allow him to both neg someone over and over again as well as keep all of the active members reps below his top end of 800.

The only way I could push back against this behaviour was to begin plus repping the hell out of people to bring the tide up and float all the boats up, many members now with far higher rep than he had before, or still has. You can blame it partly on me, partly on him, as my actions were in response to his abuses. Took me two years of repping ten members a day seven days a week, but did it. He is still active here from time to time, if he catches someone making an incorrect statement will post in those threads to show their error. I suppose that is better than nothing, at least he is helping in that way.

Who was that member? Do you remember? I do.

I do too. I was negatively repped twice by the same person in just three days in a thread on the Ebola virus because I said viruses are curable and sited some examples. Turns out in the end I was right, but that didn't change the fact I went down in reputation because of that one individual who couldn't let it go that he was wrong and I was right. Anyone who would like to peruse that old thread is welcome to do so.

You can rep the same person every three days if you rep ten people a day, sneaky to rep old dead accounts with postives to swing around and neg an active member again. None of us could figure it out, how he could keep negging every three days without anyones else's reps rising. Olympus Mons finally figure it out, went looking and saw he was repping old accounts with positives to keep the active members down.

What a little...guy. Pathetic. Mediocre! who would stick around after that kind of embarrassment?
Squeak!

Hmm, doubt it, he has a genuine italian ISP. Also doubt that he'd go through all the 3D printing trouble just to mess with the forum.
It's not that hard to be part of the forum, there's no competing here. You don't even have to build. You could just buy a few lasers and play with them, and that's not even that expensive. There's no reason to claim that's too hard.
