How much have you spent on lasers

There are others too, who have gone WAY beyond the number listed here. This hobby would have been basically impossible for me to enter ten years ago.

Thats really well said, after a year or six months i might be spending way more than this i have been holding up my funds for investments and whatnot.. but anyways i'd really like to see what sm and arythna has to say

I think I'm at close to $3000 or so if you add up everything over the years, including expensive as hell diodes in the early 90's.

Hmm. Well, with the BlitzBucks in production, that really helped drop the costs. But not counting things I built to sell... probably $3000-$4000. I killed a lot of good diodes, etc. in my past and I have a lot of really high quality tools now! :D

I remember my first 0.5mW red diode was something like $189, and the driver (which were all APC (constant power, not constant current) back then) was about $70.

Damn, that is a fortune spent on nothing lol! I think that after 5 years we will look back in time and laugh how expensive the diodes were today...

I've spent around 300$, and plan to spend 300$ more soon!

$4.35 just a few minutes ago

Haha. those Bay pens get the best of us.

Ive spent a collective of $499.74 approx.
add another 130 for todays purchase.
after that=$629.74

Edit:

Don't follow my sig. I have a few things to change and add.

Dang I'm a little closer to Yobresal, i've spent around 6k-7k.. Kinda ridiculous when you think about it..

But hey its better than spending all your money on drugs like a lot of people do. We actually have something to show for it. I'm starting to save up for a multi-watt projector, may be a while though those bad boys get expensive quick.

Around $1700 and climbing.

Things I'll purchase over the next 1-2 years with any luck:

532nm RPL ~300mW
532nm labby ~500mW
473nm labby ~150mW
WL old style 150mW Photonic Disruptor
A Projector
A gas laser
LPM, unbelievably I still don't have one
