IMHO that motor is like 20 times the power you will need for a ball mill unlesss you plan on making one that can tumble more than a hundred pounds of material, why dont you use a smaller motor then you could use a wall wart, or even a 115 volt motor that way thers no extra equipment involved (wall wart) my ball mill has a 1/30 hp 115volt motor on it and I mill up to 15 pounds of material at a time, the gear ratio used to slow down the rpm will give you plenty of tork to turn the drum.
