FS: Star Trek Phaser 'Hot' Option! Or, Individual Parts...

Re: FS: Star Trek Phaser Parts! 'Hot' Option Available! Or, Individual Parts...

I just found it interesting. I was looking the all the dumb stuff on his youtube channel and I seen he did it and I was like... This looks familiar. So I posted it here.

Re: FS: Star Trek Phaser Parts! 'Hot' Option Available! Or, Individual Parts...

I don't think that "first" is nearly as important as "best." ;)

Kipkay's and Jayrob's phasers are not even in the same class :na:

Comparing these two would be useless

The only similarities between them are that they both use the phaser body and they both have a laser diode in them. Beyond that, the KipKay is a Yugo and the Jayrob is a Murcielago.

Peace,
dave

Hey Dave thanks for voicing your opinion on this...

I know you have seen the inner workings of this modification. So it's nice to hear that you approve of it! :)

Re: FS: Star Trek Phaser Parts! 'Hot' Option Available! Or, Individual Parts...

As more and more people enter into money making schemes this is a two fold reality for the customer. How do they choose between the many people in the market place?
First is research from customers that have had firsthand dealing with the people in question and see what they have to say.

Well, this is one customer that has dealings and is here to say that without question this person has set the standard to which the rest need to be judged.

From outstanding customer support to lighting fast turnaround, Jay and his work has made me a life long customer.
If someone has some rather unusual design needs, Jay will never seemed bothered or annoyed at any requests for guidance.

As someone that was just a new customer to him, I can only deduct that he treats everyone the same way. That way is first class.

They put 110% into each and every project produced and I would not hesitate in putting my name on a recommendation for the work and customer support.

Jay is a class act and while they maybe others out there cheaper, you will not find one that can match the desire that this guy has to producing the best job for you.

I would not hesitate in paying twice what they ask because I know that while they are working on my order, it seems that I am their only customer!

Something you just know when you get a good one, this is it.

Respectfully and truthfully

Re: FS: Star Trek Phaser Parts! 'Hot' Option Available! Or, Individual Parts...

Well I guess you really like that Phaser kit huh? Thanks for those kind words! :)

Unfortunately the 'lightning fast turn around' isn't so fast these days. But I hope to eventually get all caught up, and be able of ship orders for my kits faster like I used to.

Thanks for being so patient with your order, and thanks for posting back!

See you next time!

The "explosion" of building activity that was spurred by the arrival of the super cheap 445nm diodes caught many in the hobby off guard. Sometimes it seems that I can hardly even keep up with diode sales. There has GOT TO BE a whole lotta blue photons filling the air now ;)

Peace,
dave

Re: FS: Star Trek Phaser Parts! 'Hot' Option Available! Or, Individual Parts...

How much power can you get out of a 445nm in this build?

Re: FS: Star Trek Phaser Parts! 'Hot' Option Available! Or, Individual Parts...

I've tested a 445 diode in one at 650mA's and it works perfectly...

And the one that removed (above) got, was set at 650mA's for a 445 build, as well as a couple of other 'Hot' option kits that I have shipped)

So that would still be a class 4 Phaser build even with an AixiZ 445 lens.

You must use Energizer e2 lithiums. (2 X AA)

Remember that the batteries are also giving some current for the sound board, as well as the 'armed indicator' LED that I put in the sound knob.

It's not a whole lot of current (about 120mA's for the sound board, and about 15mA's for the LED), but that's why the need for the lithium's.

Now I can't say for sure if it will do more. Because I only tested at 650mA's. But it may just be able to do more. (V5 FlexDrive needed, not Micro Boost)

I did do some testing with Li-Ions in parallel, which would work fine, but there are reasons that I don't like that idea.

The battery compartment would need some modification to fit them. (slightly longer)

And also there would need to be the use of some silicon diodes to drop voltage to the leads going to the sound board, as well as the 3 volt LED.

When I tested without the silicon diodes, the sound board got hot and would cut out after about 20 seconds. And the LED got hot too.

But all things considered, the lithium primaries in series, still have more capacity than the Li-Ions in parallel would. So that's why I recommend sticking with 2 X Energizer e2 lithium AA's...

Thanks for the info. It is too bad 2 10440 in series cannot work for the sound/led/laser that would certainly be enough to get up to 1 watt (linear driver) Thanks for the info. A 1 watt 445nm build in this host would be amazing.

It could be done with 2 X 14500's in parallel, and using silicon diodes on the leads going to the sound board and LED 'armed indicator' light...

But honestly, 550 - 650mW's is also pretty awesome if you didn't want to do the extra modifications for Li-Ion's in parallel...
