FS: Star Trek Phaser 'Hot' Option! Or, Individual Parts...

Re: FS: Star Trek Phaser Parts! 'Hot' Option Available! Or, Individual Parts...

Freedom10, I sent your 'Hot' option Phaser kit with 405-G-1 glass lens today. (Tuesday)

Hope you like it!

Please post back with your comments... :)

Just got the kit today and went right to work on it. This was my first time doing a laser diode harvest and build and everything went together perfectly. :yh: What an awesome laser! I lit a few matches in the garage with it and blew them out quickly to get a little smoke going. I flipped off the lights and fired the beam against the opposite wall. Beautiful violet beam just like your video!

Jay, the kit was excellent and your machine work and alignment of the EZ Focus adapter was spot on. The beam fired out perfectly parallel with the body of the phaser. Nice job!!

I have to admit I was a bit nervous about harvesting the 12x Blu Ray for a first build. I kept thinking "one small mistake and "poof", b-bye $200." But after spending several hours reading through the threads and watching YouTube videos on how to harvest the diode, it wasn't really that difficult. I just took my time, used a ground strap on my wrist, and used a small alligator clip on the diode leads to serve as a heat sink when I soldered the wires on. The hardest part was pressing the diode into the AixiZ mount. I didn't have a vice, so I used a pair of vice grips, wrapped tape around the jaws, and nudged the diode in a bit at a time until it was flush.

Thanks again Jay for a great build!

Off to go buy some flash paper and black balloons........ :D

Re: FS: Star Trek Phaser Parts! 'Hot' Option Available! Or, Individual Parts...

Glad you like it! :)

And thanks for posting back...

I haven't gotten any feedback here because most of the people who have tried my 'Hot' option Phaser kit are not on LPF.

Here a couple of good testimonials via e-mail:

"I have to say that the build on this was excellent. All of the components worked perfectly, the custom-machined parts fit together with no problems, and the installation of the diode was well documented and easy to do. All of the solder points were very professionally done and everything worked as advertised. With the full build, it was as easy as soldering two wires to the diode, installing that into the heatsink, soldering those two wires to the leads, and putting everything back together. My time spent was roughly 30 minutes including removing the diode from the blu-ray device.
After the build, I've used the phaser a number of times and it has never had an issue with overheating or failing for any reason. As Jay would say repeatedly (and correctly), protective eyewear is a must. Overall, for the high quality, this is one of the best values I've seen.

Jeremy"

"Hi,
I purchased the “hot option kit” from Jay Robertson and am very happy with the quality of his work. His detailed instructions made it easy to install the diode needed to complete the build and now I have the totally cool working phaser that I dreamed of having ever since I was a kid. Communication with Jay was prompt and the delivery was fast and he was always willing to answer questions. I am very satisfied with my purchase and it’s super fun with flash paper too :)
Sincerely,
Tim Kienitz"

I received my hotbuild today from Jay.All i can say is WOW.

It is well put together.Harvesting the diode was easy. The hardest part was pressing it in.

I popped my first balloon and was happy.

Anyone wanting this kit will have a first class relationship with Jay.

Thanks a million

Yes please beams shots! 445nm phaser... mmm. Been waiting to see one. :pop:
Jayrob you haven't done a 445nm phaser right?

Re: FS: Star Trek Phaser Parts! 'Hot' Option Available! Or, Individual Parts...

Not yet...

The thought crossed my mind, but I don't want to take my 12X out!

I've got a nice green one already, and a couple of 445 hand held lasers. So I figure the 445 Phaser can wait...

But it would be the diode to use for an authentic looking Phaser!

I think the original color in the show was blue...

I'm sure you will like it! Just as you liked your other Phaser kits! :)

If you get a chance, show some pictures! :D
