Mine's just meant as a pointer, so I have no reason to have it focused except for infinity (well, I as close as I can get anyway :p).

Mine is ment to be a high powered pointer so I am as well going to focus to infinity, not for burning...
But still waiting for my flexdrive, cr123a primaries and my testload.

*My Dx 30 broke a moment ago, please be sad for a minute with me*

I agree, there's not much need for focusing on mine. I plan on setting it to infinity, and if focusing is necessary, external focusing optics will be used. I'm also working on another project to get the beam on a bluray down to less than 2mm

Mine is just focued to infinity as well, it seams to work well, a better pointer than I had originally thought, still not $2000 worth.

Amen to that!

I kind of feel sorry for people that paid $2k to WL for theirs.... Then again, they deserve it if they dont bother to research.

QFT! Whenever there is something that you want to buy in that price class, you´d better research some hours...

If the front screws off the why are you guys drilling them?

Also, has any one tried using 3.7V 17670 1800mAh Li-Ion's?

I ordered two 17670s a week ago.
Some people said that the 17670 did not fit, or even some 16340 (Conventional CR123 size) did not fit. These are protected ones though, I think that the protection circuit was just a millimeter off from fitting.

Let me know if it fits.

I just pulled some unprotected 17670 cells from a laptop pack, and they just barely fit in my silver sonar cases (like the 123A's) :) some sanding of the initial threads are needed, but it fits in the main barrel fine. Type US17670GR
This will be perfect for the flex :)

Hey drlava, would the flex be able to take 2xCR123a 3.6v batts, or do you recommend a dummy battery in there?

I can't afford it at the moment, but I'm definitely gonna buy a flexdrive for the Sonar if that will work, and if you have any dummy batteries to add as well that would be great :)

The flex´s maximum input is 6V, hence the need for a silicon diode to drop the current of 2 full cr123a 3V batterys, which is about 6.4 V at full charge...
