FS: ***Selectable test load up to 3A (assembled or DIY kit)*** IN STOCK!

Ah yes, he did in order to determine the number of diodes to use on the test load. You are correct that you have to add the test load diodes Vf + resistor Vf to match the overall Vf for the laser diode.

Ok..So, if I have this right, then with a 1.8A current, we can guess the Vf of the diodes to be up to .9V, and we can say a Vf on the resistor of 1V (to keep the math simple). We want to match a LD Vf of 4.5V. Thusly:

1V(resistor)+3.6V(.9 X 4 diodes)= 4.6Vf total of test load. So, 4 diode setting for this LD.

Anyone know what the Vf on the 9mm 445nm diodes is?

Depends on the current. Numbers are here:

Oh, man...I can't wait for mine to get here!!

Guys, I just want to take a minute to explain to everyone how important it is to ACTUALLY measure the real world amount of V your running through your test loads.

I thought I had all the math correct and even got confirmation on my math here, in this thread. The problem was it was NOWHERE near accurate because of the current running through it.

Now that I know how to measure the voltage of the load, I trust I will get far more accurate data.

Thanks everyone!

Ok guys, here's the nerd porn! My rig set up and measuring my Mohgasm linear and with my daughter's and my home made test load.

Thanks Jufran!

Hey Jufran are you still selling these? 3 years in this hobby and no testload is a problem I need to get fixed!!!

I haven't been here anywhere near that long just yet (give it time lol), but I am also very interested to see if these are still available,
Thanks

Hey guys! Not to worry I'm still selling the test loads! I've been quite busy moving and doing a little adventuring, family time, etc. I will have them back in stock soon as I get the PCBs done at the board house. I'll update this thread when its back!

Still using mine  However i did thermally glued some copper bars onto it and made another type of connection to the driver. (thick wires due to high currents recently in 9mm builds!)

greetings,,

Nice work there offroadfreak8582! Glad you found a way to make it even better

These are great test loads for sure. Mine has gotten crazy amounts of use.

This is the mod I did to mine when I got it like 6+ months ago:

I made the leads a little longer than they needed to be but they are high enough gauge that they do not effect function.
