FS: Pocket Mini Build Kit! - Easy Assembly!

I received my pocket mini with hot option preset to 290ma a couple days ago. I had an aixiz module with 8x diode pressed in ready to go. It was as simple as soldering on the two wires Jay has hanging out of the host, placing module in the heatsink, tighten the set screw and screw the top back on.

I hit the go button and I was rewarded with a very bright, brilliant light. Much brighter then my 167ma driven PHR I'll tell you. The white paint on my garage wall smoked and burned right through everywhere the dot touched. LOL!

I plan on getting a laserbee in the next few weeks so we'll test actual power but for now, look out garage wall paint.

Hey jayrob, What are the dimensions of the pocket mini heatsink?

Hey I try to be as helpful as I can but I'm selling these, so I would rather not give out the measurements. Although it would be easy enough to just measure the host. Or you can buy the heatsink only... :)

sportcoupe, glad you got your Pocket Mini 8X going. I'm sure it is around 400mW's using my 405-G-1 glass lens mod! :gj:

For the heatsink with set screw, it is $19 dollars plus $3 dollars shipping...

hey jay sorry its taken me so long to post pictures but here they are

Jake you have to host the pictures online.

I also have one of these kits coming my way.

About pictures, if you don't have any web space set up, you can upload it in your 'public profile' here on LPF! Then from there, I believe you can copy the link, and it will show up in your posts if you want...

F2a, just to let you know that I am shipping your Pocket Mini Kit with 'Hot' option today. (Monday)

I have it set at 120mA's per our discussion. (blu-ray test load)

Hope your build goes well! :)

Hi there. I completed my built but the problem is that the tail button does not work. In fact, when I first turned the laser on, it worked, but then, after an hour, I tried to use it again but it didn't work... I manually tried to power the laser without the host by connecting the - of the battery to the metal cover of the pill. It worked with that method. here are 2 pics of how the back of the host looks like. I don't know how to fix this, please help! Jayrob, can I do something to get the host working again?
Note: the tail button clicks when I push it.

This is the first I have heard of a tail button not working on a Pocket Mini host. The host and clicky switch seems to be very good...

I'm sure it is just a connection issue - 'switch to host' point of contact.

That small retaining ring unscrews, but you would need to use a tiny screwdriver or a 'pick' to reach it.

If you can't get it, you could send me the back portion of the host (switch end), and I could fix it for you.

Just send me a PM if you want to do that...

But to double check that it is indeed the switch, use a battery in the 'switch end' of the host, and check voltage with your DMM. You can click it on and off a few times to see if it is working.

I too have had this problem, but I was able to fix it just by screwing in that ring that you speak of just a little bit further. :)

Ahh... ok thanks!

Silvershot, that is most likely all that is needed. The ring makes the contact between the outside of the switch contact point, and the host.

It probably just needs to be tightened a little. But do the voltage test to make sure that the switch is the problem, and that you are not having some other issue with your build...
