Re: FS: NEW AW Protected 18650 2600mAh batteries *PRICE DROP*

Why give $15.50 for ONE cell shipped, while you can get one for $5 on DX ? I think that >$10 for a battery is too much. IMO

This was exactly what I thought before reading tons of posts, here are what different experienced users say about AW:

. Ability to power high-power incans without double- or triple-clicking.
. Capacity stated is very close, the voltage retaining is much better.
. Cell consistency is excellent.
. Sleeve wrapping is much sturdier.
. Bottom plate is STEEL instead of a 35 micron copper.
. Extra safety PTC added in addition to a high quality protection PCB.
. Better quality control.
. Size is closer to 18x65.

Now here is a link to a comparaison with many other well known cells where you will see how they perform:

So in the end, it depends on how much you want to spend on safety/quality and what is the price of the device that will receive these cells.

For expensives laser (>$300), personally I don't want to take any risk and the extra $10 is worth it for me :)

Re: FS: NEW AW Protected 18650 2600mAh batteries *PRICE DROP*

I've never had a problem with the Ultrafires 18650s. Now those CR123As, I've had problems with because the protection circuit got triggered and I couldn't get it out of that mode. I had to toss the batteries as a result. Do these batteries have some mechanism to switch the PCB out of protected mode? If so, are they available for CR123As as well?

By the way, this is quite a good price, especially compared to the prices at CPF. Here's a review.

I see. the price seems good for what these cells offer then :)

Yes they exist, I use them in my lasers too, they are also pretty good, here is a link where you will also see the PTC module:

AW RCR123

They also have IMR versions of it that allows a higher discharge rate (4A) with safe chemistry (LiMN):
