hopefully I'll have those finished and shipped by this weekend.
Take your time, use the weekend - post office's open on Monday's too...  ;)

Re: FS: Kenometer $250

LOL.

Well, I wouldn't have all of them done before then anyway. This one for you traveler is literally done with the exception of not having the display. ONce that comes in, it's slap it in, glue it in place, and package to ship.

Ken,

in the 60's, electronic-equipment's displays were only available in green, in the late 70's & early 80's they tried an ugly orange-red, in the 80's, back to green and finally, the 90's saw the blue LED come of age  :)

I've got to have blue...  :P  ;D

However, I'm quite aware that it's not your fault that the distributor changed specs on you. So I am willing to foot the bill ($10, was it?) - but someone needs to assure me that this ah, "isolator" is not going to be the weak link in the chain...

last thing I need is a dead Kenometer just because Isolators are fickle (and I just had to insist on blue...  ::))

I don't care if it's hot pink as long as the kenometer works and can measure laser output power I'm happy. With such demands you should get a professional LPM.  ;) What's a couple thousand when you can have a blue LCD display? I agree, If the screen is not LCD it's just not worth it. Kenom better work on an LCD display before rangedunits changes his mind again and buys this instead for 2K Kenom's overpriced competitor[/quote]
Naaa IF your going to drop a few grand and get a professional meter, get this one instead;

and don't forget the sensor too;

Short of going that route, I think you'll be very happy with Ken's build; I don't think there's another hobbyist LPM on the "market" that can touch it.  ::)

Re: FS: Kenometer $250

Yeah... I have 2 Kenometers added to my collection....
so they got to be good.... ;)

Re: FS: Kenometer $250

Ok I recind my earlier statement that I wouldn't have all of these done by the time this weekend comes rolling around.  I will have completed all of them and waiting for the displays will be the only thing holding me up on the shipment of all of these meters.

Jake21 has specified he wants the LCD display, so that's being wired with a external 9v battery and will ship by this weekend since I have that one on hand. I do have one more LCD display on hand and if anyone wants that one wired with an external 9v battery I can ship that one as well this weekend. The meter draws 80ma so a 9v battery will last a good long time on one battery.

PMed.
What's the difference between LCD & LED from an engineer's point of view? I understand that LCDs are backlit and LEDs are ...LEDs  :P but that's about it ( :-[)... thx

Re: FS: Kenometer $250

literally the only difference is looks. The lcd does say V on it, while the led does not. The lcd is backlit, the led is very bright. It's just a look preference and that's it.

Hey Ken.... for the members that don't know the difference between your
LCD Display and your LED displays.... A picture is worth a thousand words...
Just a thought... ;)

Thanks, for the info and for all the pics, Ken 8-)

The fact that the LED has four digits doesn't mean it can use it, right? Just in case our future 16x BRs hit 1.5W... ;D

Re: FS: Kenometer $250

yeah that would be one limitation of the LCD vs. LED.  I never even noticed that.  Good eye.

Edit. NVM the LCD is also a 3 1/2 digit. Same as the LED>

Re: FS: Kenometer $250

Thx / good news, I'm all out of silly questions  :P
Now it's just down to rounding up the test units for my future Kenometer (display included ;))...

p.s. Beam-shot: Canon 50D + EF-S 60mm, manually set to 4s & f/6.3 (dimly-lit room, no smoke involved)

Re: FS: Kenometer $250

soo here's a new updated.  i've literally cut the end of my finger off while making the cuts in the boxes.  as such i'm significantly slowed in my construction of these meters.

my exacto knife is always sharp.
