Can you get it in by Tuesday? ... I have a bunch of stuff to order too, this way it can ride with my stuff and you wont have to pay anything for Mouser shipping it to me.

The only purpose for these is to break the 1.5A barrier on a single cell, so initially it will have set resistors for 1.8A(+/- resistor variance). I also hope to get this up to 2.8A to power XML LED builds.

The first batch will be available in about 3 weeks.

Hey do you think there may be room to put a pot on there?

Not in the current 17mm design. I would have to toss the round shape w/ contact pad and move to rectangle design so I can use both sides ... or make it bigger.

I am indeed out for the moment ... I have parts but I wont have time to build them until the weekend. When they are back in stock ill post here. And don't worry about the extra for international shipping, Ive stopped collecting it since I put in the PP buttons.

have you given thought of selling "kits" to save yourself the trouble of assembling them all?

I have, but all the parts on these are SMD and not everyone has the means to assemble them properly. Now that I have a reflow oven and DIY stencil, the only real pain in the arse is me playing human pick and place machine.

I was just wondering, I plan to try making a few LM1117 drivers for myself (not for resale, I don't want to take away from your business). But I was just wondering, was there a reason you chose to use the DPAK package instead of the SOT-223 package? I can't seem to find DPAK ones for cheap, so I was just wondering why you went with the DPAK type (perhaps they can handle the heat better? I don't know).

You got it ... the SOT-223 can only realistically handle up to 800mA before it starts to hit thermal shutdown.

Thanks for the help. In that case, perhaps you should use the SOT-223 on your 444mA and 501mA options in order to save on cost (although I'm sure you get your parts cheap anyway). But then again, it's hard to beat prices around .144/pc. 100 x AMS1117-ADJ LM1117 1117 ADJ 1A Voltage Regulator | eBay

Edit: Last question, does the capacitance used matter (is any capacitor good enough, or should it be specifically 10uF like i've seen a couple of times.)?

10uF ceramic ... anything else and your driver might not be stable.

Can I run the 500mA driver with 2 Li-ions? I see you listed 6V min for a 4V load and partially discharged Li-ions would only put me at like 7V with a 6V load.

Yes ... combined, your li-ion cells should stay above 7.5V for around 80% of its discharge cycle which is plenty of overhead for for a 6V load. I would expect a total drop-out of regulation @ 7V.

No, because the Absolute Max VIN is 10V.
No, because 10440's could not possibly provide enough current to make 1.8A.

You really need 2x 18650 LowR/IMR type cells or bigger. 2x IMR 16340's will work, but the run time will suck.
