FS: Direct Diode Heatsinks - The 'Chunk' series

Re: DC Big Chunk heat sinks are here !

Thanks for the review Dave, I'm glad you like them!  8-)

If anyone has any feedback on the 'sinks, or would like to see some features or hosts added for the next manufacturing lot, pipe up!

Otherwise, give one a try and get one on order! You don't know what you're missing! ;)

Dan :)

The sinks look great - as far as aesthetic changes go, I think they would look nice with some circular heatsink fins machined into the outward facing side of the heatsink

Re: DC Big Chunk heat sinks are here !

Thanks Mario, I'll strongly look into that on the next design revision, as I've heard that mentioned more than once.
They are flush mounted, with the face of the MXDL or Dorcy though, so I may have to extend them more to add the grooves.

Big Chunks  Big Chunks  Big Chunks !

Heres the deal, we need to get some of these into the hands of laser builders, so I posted one on Ebay at a .99 cent starting price. I am ONLY posting this link on the LPF. This is a special offer just for Laser Pointer Forum members.  Please take a look and get it while it's cheap ! Remember this is a LPF only post so check it out before the word gets out. CMD

Great looking build !

You just gotta love a red burner and the continous duty cycle is a real nice bonus !

Is that the free tube of heatsink compound I see in the background ?

Some beam shots sure would be nice, if you get the time. Catmandoo

@DTMF - I'm glad you are please with the chunks! 8-)
It makes it all worthwhile seeing people using and enjoying them, after a lot of work it took to make them.

Sweet beam pics! :D

Those beamshots show how powerful it is, how is the heating ? Diode staying nice and cool ?

the big chunk is doing a very good job of keeping this loc red nice and cool  ;)

Re: FS: Direct Diode Heatsinks - The 'Chunk' serie

Great !
We need to get these out among the builders and let them give a candid review.  IMHO these are just to good to keep under wraps !

The biggest hurdle for me has been building the heatsink, this little jewel makes it so much easier and gives a very professional looking laser.
If you win the auction you will be a very happy man. ;D   CMD

Re: FS: Direct Diode Heatsinks - The 'Chunk' serie

Evening All :)

@DTMF: Excellent - I told you nothing gets hot under the collar when it's sat in a 'big chunk' LOL :D

The eBay listing is at the bargain price of $16 - only a few hours left... ::)
