FS: Collection HUGE PRICE DROPS Added Kryton Groove

Re: FS: Collection HUGE PRICE DROPS

Looks like the 473, 561 and 589 are all pretty well claimed.

__

As for the 1W 660 - I do believe laserBTB used the C-mounts in it. I dont know of any canned 650's that do over 500mW.

Imagine the beam is a square, and the edges are rounded off from the lens. Still outputs over 1W.

Re: FS: Collection HUGE PRICE DROPS

Pm incoming. Don't wanna clutter the thread.

Re: FS: Collection HUGE PRICE DROPS

Another PM sent, thanks for mailing it out so quickly. I'm beginning to have the opposite of buyers remorse on the 473 now. I'm thinking I should have taken it as well. If it's still available I may just need to jump on it too.

Can't wait to see what the 561 looks like in person. Thanks again for offering up these rare lasers. It will be well cared for and ultimately put into a new host. Will probably return it to the community someday down the road so somebody else can enjoy it too.

Cheers!
JM

Enoy the 561 :)

Can't believe my eyes right now.

I remember Raffle spamming me with texts every time he got another 1-2mW peak in his tests. Seeing it go for $650 baffles my mind.

Re: FS: Collection HUGE PRICE DROPS

Thought I'd give an update on the Rigel situation, although really we're no further forward.

The lowdown:
We're now coming up to 2 and a half weeks since postage. According to USPS tracking#, it left Chicago early morning on February the 28th and that was it's last hop on US soil.
"Your item was processed through and left our CHICAGO, IL 60666 facility on February 28, 2014 at 12:58 am. The item is currently in transit to the destination. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later."
This is the last update since Feb 28th on the USPS page.

Normally when parcels are sent via USPS destined for the UK, they get picked up by ParcelForce, which are part of Royal Mail (our equivalent of USPS). The tracking number given has no information against it when used on either ParcelForce's systems OR Royal Mail. Zero information, nada. I've phoned ParcelForce and as well as confirming what I saw on the website, they're dubious the tracking number is even correct.

Now, the wait isn't what's killing me, but the fact that we're now completely in the dark as to it's whereabouts is making me nervous. I've had an Eagle Pair (ordered around the same time as I bought the Rigel) delivered almost a week ago with basic tracking information which showed on Parcel Force, and a pair of ARG goggles which has quite a bit of information as well. Said goggles were ordered roughly around the time I bought the rigel, had to be custom made, have been posted, cleared UK customs and are now awaiting customs charges... so the time frame we are dealing with here is not unreasonable.

Attempts to "convert" the USPS tracking number (courtesy of info I found online) to a GB tracking number for ParcelForce/Royal Mail have yielded just the same results, so I suspect there are a few possibilities here:-

-for some bizarre reason it has not actually left US soil yet and is perhaps stuck in US customs, but they have not stated this on the tracking. I find this unlikely, but still plausible.
-It has entered the UK but has been incorrectly scanned (or not scanned at all) and is en route to me in the blind. Unlikely as even a postcode search finds nothing destined for me.
-It's been eaten by UK customs which then becomes an issue of theft as our customs regs don't strictly cover lasers, especially class IIIb. Zero tracking info suggests this not to be the case, as my ARG goggles contain info before during and after the customs part.

Regardless, we are now completely in the dark as to the whereabouts of the package and 2.5 weeks with no information IMO is reasonable grounds to begin the pursuit of answers.

Raffle: Please do some chasing on your end, as we have no information on our side the parcel may well still be in the USA, and if so we need to find out why. Please also try and find out from your PO if they do pass parcels of this type over to ParcelForce, and if not, to whom they go to.

We tried the tracking number last night on all kinds of courier websites and got no response, but it's worth a try however unlikely it is now in the hands of a courier rather than the postal service.

I don't think it's time for panic stations just yet, but we need to follow a line of enquiry on both sides. As well as what I have done already, I will make my way to the local PO tomorrow morning and interrogate them as to any parcels being held for me. Please do your bit by making enquiries with the PO the Rigel was posted from, in particular finding out whether Chicago was the flight to the UK or if there are more "steps" which have caused a hold up.

Actually I think customs for GB and most of Europe is under 1mW. But don't quote me on it. But I doubt customs has taken it. it's more likely it's sitting somewhere and not been scanned.

Re: FS: Collection HUGE PRICE DROPS

Nope, that's a common misconception. I've researched it to death - you can't (legally) buy lasers here over 1mW, but importing them is a kind of loophole that isn't covered. As long as you don't send batteries with the laser (which would be silly) it should get through.

This is why LaserGlow, which are obviously a company who won't just lie and write "$10 LED flashlight" on the package, will happily ship handhelds here, yet they won't ship them over 5mW to US.

I agree it's most likely sitting somewhere, but no update since February the 28th is taking the piss. Sitting on our bottoms won't get it sorted :P

Reason LaserGlow no longer ships to the US is because they finally had the FDA get fed up with them and started returning them, it only applies to the handhelds. And importing does cover them if they're complete lasers.

Links would be good. I researched this to death before committing to this sale for this very reason. Every source I found on Google (and on here) corroborate with what I said.

Don't forget that although we are part of the EU, we aren't as tightly integrated with them as a lot of people think. We don't use the Euro, you still need a passport to travel from Britain to an EU country and although we have similar laws and ethics, we don't necessarily "share" EU laws and governance.

I'll see if I can get you a source. but you know, if you really wanted to, you could just ask your customs office. I've asked mine, and I know several of the guys there, they've all been very helpful.

Re: FS: Collection HUGE PRICE DROPS

I didn't think of doing that, mainly because it doesn't seem very sensible asking an entity which is currently looking to crack down on lasers "whether my laser will make it through customs"

Re: FS: Collection HUGE PRICE DROPS

Just say: "Hi, I am trying to get a list of what is able to be imported. One gray area seemed to be handheld lasers. I was wondering if you could clarify the laws on this particular matter to help me complete my research."

you don't give them your info. you just ask what the law is and where their power lies :p they don't need any info on it generally.

Exactly what he said!
