I'm currently using the microboost maxed out. Probably over an amp. IT IS SO AWESOME. With a plastic lens, totally unfocused, it will burn plastic and skin.
Hot-Option set to 650mA
Copper heatsink (with set screw)
405nm G-1? lens
In all, good build for my 445nm laser! Love it! I already as a crude burning test just happen to saw an ant, and couldn't resist. I heard it sizzle
Just have to clean off the heatsink paste left on the copper Once I find the good spot for long range i will set my module back. There's plenty of room to slide it back thanks to the long heatsink.
One of the nice features of this build, is that if you do want to adjust the module position inside the heatsink, it is a piece of cake!
Since the host has a final retaining ring that holds the heatsink in place, it's just a simple matter of taking off the retaining ring to have access to the heatsink and module set screw...
Yep. I changed the input current at my friend's house with just my leatherman squirt. My only concern is that I don't have a proper adjuster wrench, and I might strip it. How much would it be for you to ship me a new set screw should I ever need one?
I got a kit for $11 at a hardware store that only exists here. over 50 different bits that are for hex-screwdrivers. It had the right size piece to fit your lock nut Also has the security ones with holes in the center
I had a key ring with a ton of hex keys... unfortunately the smallest one (the perfect size) fell off lol. and @ jbtm I got my dad a 100 bit kit for like $9 at harbor freight for his birthday, I'm sure it had this bit but the kit is locked in storage somewhere.
I just found a perfectly sized bit on the ground outside :wtf: That's going in my wallet... LOL there was almost enough room inside the host beneath the heatsink to keep it because of the funny way I installed the driver... that would have been convenient!
do you have any of these with the press fit copper option available to ship? i have a 445 diode, aixiz glass, and ultrafire 18650 battery and charger on the way and id like to have this up and running by the 4th
The 10 hosts that I had received last week were gone in about 4 or 5 days. The two I just sent to Glenn, were on hold for him because he paid a while ago, and was just waiting on other stuff he ordered...
I have 20 more hosts on order, and they have shipped about 2 days ago. (10 of them did anyway, not sure about the other 10)
Anyway, I think about 6 or 7 are spoken for. So I'm taking orders for this build on a 'first pay, first serve' basis...
I normally can ship right away... I hate not being able to do this. But there has been a big demand for this kit and I have not been able to keep stock of the host.
I will promise you this, if you get in line for one, I will take good care of you. But you will have to be patient at this point...
