Aaargh! the tension is building up waiting for the little gem (it's coming, I know, I can feel the disturbance in the Force...) so I figured I'd tell you a funny little story that happened to me today:
So there I was, checking my mailbox five times a day, as usual during the past few weeks... Didn't have much hope, however -- tadaaaa! -- there is was, the little brown recycled-paper thingie notifying me I have a package to reclaim! Trembling with anticipation, I quickly went to the post office, which was closed for their lunch-break. Twenty-five unnerving minutes later, after taking the time to discuss the finer points of the weather with a lovely bunch of old ladies waiting for the PO to open in order to get their pensions, I was in front of the counter. Anxiously I gave the bored lady from the other side the puny piece of paper, and watched her get up and go searching for the package in the back of the room. Almost an eternity later, she returned holding what appeared to be a small, bubble-wrapped package. "External delivery" she said with a monotonous voice, and I quickly signed for it, my eyes turning into x-rays and trying to get through the envelope...
There it was! Holding it in my hands, the package seemed the right size. Feeling through the bubble-wrap, a small, tubular shape could be felt beneath. I opened it right there and there, almost tearing the paper away, and found...
... the nice flashlight I had ordered only five days ago from a shop in the UK. Almost the same size and weight, plus the needed batteries... it's a very nice flashlight by the way, very powerful, small, rugged and even programmable! The Ra Clicky -- hxxp://ralights.com/?id=Clicky in case you were wondering. Alas, still no laser :-/
But wait, there's more! I kept the Clicky with me during the day, and as the night lay it's dark wings over the city I decided to take a detour on the way home and stop in a nearby park to play around. I was having a good time with it, testing it's brightness and strobing a few stray dogs to keep them at bay, when I see something vaguely familiar... yes, there it is again, shining brightly in the night sky -- a
high power green laser! Someone's playing with it on the other side of the park, the light tauntingly reaching the trees in front of me.
*Sigh* I took a deep breath and called it a day...
So, is it here yet?
P.S.: This package from the UK actually spent 4 (four) days total in transit, two of which were the week-end. Now that is
fast!
