Florida Shooting

When you push someone out, they don't have much to loose, especially a kid like this without any parents, both dead, from what I'm reading. That and one photo I saw of him looked strange, but the media delights in finding the strangest photo's they can when someone does something like this. This is the kind of 20/20 hind sight I was writing about in my previous post here, we know where the risk for a kid to go bad like this is, but yet no one takes the time to intervene in this individuals life to turn him from doing something like this. It's also our culture here, first person shooter games glorify killing, stupid.

This is probably going to start a storm; :scared: :scared: :scared:

If the parents don’t know “right from wrong” how can they teach it to the kids?

This will start another one; it takes a village....

Curious; do you really think “it takes a village”

Edit; I guess it depends on the morals of the “village”

Edit x 2; or maybe the morals of the teacher? (whoever or whatever is in that position)

I’m done.
How’s your laser collection coming Alaskan, got any new one lately? :)

I cringed writing that due to Hillary's book with that title, but without parents or family, it falls on the rest of us. in this kids case, it could have, but the village didn't catch it. i have too many projects, my old member name was correct; Laser Project, most of my stuff is that.

That is where my mind went when I read it, to Hillary’s book. So I understand the sentiment.

Best wishes with your project(s)
My “to-do-list” is getting on the longgggger side, myself  enjoy, be safe. :)

I'm sick and tired of hearing gun nuts spout NRA garbage as if it were fact. "Guns don't kill people, people do" is absurd on its face. Without a gun that kid could not have done all the killing he was able to do. That is a fact. Put a knife in his hand and maybe he kills one, but unless he was incredibly lucky it might not have ended anyone's life. I am not in favor of banning firearms, but more people are killed with guns than any other weapon in this country.

And morals is just a political way of deflecting the issue. How many people have been killed in the name of a religion? Even so called Christians go out and shoot people working at planned parenthood because they don't want women to have a right to choose their own fertility. Many of the most ethical people are atheists. I believe everyone should be able to worship whatever they choose to, but that is the end of that right.

As for this rant....I'm done.

I place some of the blame on the media who reports this stuff putting ideas into angry minds who might do the same as well as the first person shooter games kids play so much, Hollywood has played a part in sensationalising violence too.

I don't know if that will ever happen, with as much as we all have our own immediate concerns, these people with problems are mostly pushed to the side.
You are so right here. The signs were there. This kid, now an adult had several problems and appearently did not have proper guidence. The guns he had were perfectly legal, kept in a safe etc. Like you said he was just handed off after losing his parents. He is autistic, had fixations with guns and vengence; possibly with bullies. How he got the means to obtain them I dont know. New facts are emerging.

Regardless of any specific circumstances (i.e. the common "kid gets bullied and seeks revenge"), this applies all the time. Well said.

Although maybe a good idea to take this discussion over to the guns thread.

1) Someone bashes someone’s head in with a club. It’s the persons fault.

2) Someone poisons someone. It’s the persons fault.

3) Someone runs someone over with a car. It’s the persons fault.

4) Someone stabs someone. It’s the persons fault.

5) Someone blows someone up with a bomb. It’s the persons fault.

6) Someone drowns someone. It’s the persons fault.

7) Someone pushes someone off a cliff. It’s the persons fault.

8) Someone smothers someone. It’s the person fault.

9) Someone staves someone. It’s the persons fault.

10) Someone shoots someone. It’s the guns fault.

Question; which one of these is not like the others.

The problem is simple. You can take all of the first nine and add the deaths attributed to them and they don't come close to the deaths attributed to guns. :tinfoil:

Let's not get off topic with this comment, but how about this: Analyzing medical death rate data over an eight-year period, Johns Hopkins patient safety experts have calculated that more than 250,000 deaths per year are due to medical error in the U.S. - Why isn't that in the news, unnecessary deaths are deaths whether on accident or on purpose.

It would seem your statement is incorrect.

There were 33,736 traffic deaths and 33,599 total firearm deaths in 2014, the latest year for which full data is available – a difference of 137 deaths.

It would seem like there are more deaths by car accidents than guns. Not to mention the poisoning/stabbing/drowning etc etc etc.

So the facts would say.

Edit; your right Alaskan tis a question. Why are only gun death thrown up front???

$$$ and doctors are demi-gods is why. Several sources I've read also indicate accidents with prescription drugs, caused by doctors, kill 100,000 a year in the USA, illicit drugs about 20,000.

As usual, you are totally off base with this analogy. You said when people run someone over with a car it is that person's fault. All traffic fatalities aren't run over people. In fact, a large portion are people killing themselves in accidents, which by the way are by definition, no ones fault. At least if you are going to make an argument, get your facts right. It is a simple thing to do. Umbdass.
