Hi everyone,
I recently got a sample of two pbs cubes and have done some testing to see their efficiency.
cubes measure 12.5mm x 12.5mm x 12.5mm
one cube coated for red
one cube coated for blue
Since I got my lpm working I decided to run some test on the red cube.

the results were
650nm
250mw at lens 245mw reflected 235mw transmitted

635nm
465mw at lens 456mw reflected 460mw transmitted

I hope to have time to run tests on the blue cube tomorrow.

If there's an interest in these I might make an order and do a group buy for it.

Are you shooting the beam from the center or edge ? It make a big difference.I have some good cubes, if you like I could test the one you have on my LPM and see if it is better then the ones I sale and if so I would buy a lot !Just let me know ,I am all ways looking to find better parts for my lasers
Thanks Rick Trent

I looked at this when it first popped up and didnt even realize it but yeah as Alex said, w/o a feeler is pointless. Even if its a ballpark price, could mean the difference between a yes im in pending final price and no way in hello ;)

I found that the beam had to be centered in the dead center. the power was also dependent on the beam being at 90 degrees.
If we can get 30 cubes price would be $35 shipped conus.

I wouldn't mind sending cubes for testing to a reputable member to get this thing going.

Any update on the blue power tests, preferably around 1.5~2W input so breakdown would also be tested. Would like to to see combined input power using 2 diodes for loss if at 4W total input.

$35? I'd like to see the tests too, especially to find out if they're any better than those ones you see on eBay for less. They should also be compared against the ones at Surplus Shed, which are huge and broadband coated.

I saw those and they are HUGE. as for tests as soon as I finish testing the 445nm cube ricktrent will be receiving them for 3rd party testing.

What may be nice about those wavelength-specific PBS cubes you're checking out is that they may have better contrast ratios than the broadband variants. I'd like to see them compared with the $15 ones from eBay though. Sometimes those cheap Chinese laser products are actually pretty good for what they are.

The polarization layer isn't perfect, so the contrast ratio is how much light gets reflected/blocked vs. how much gets transmitted. Higher is better.

I have four cubes from techood for both blue and red combining and will post my findings-my plan also is to get ~4W from two 9mm 445s- then want to cube two reds 170mW close to 638nm- and cube them with a 650nm 1.3W I got from Spacelas for my RGB full color DIY now in year 2.5 (so far). 1+W of green will require a LOT of red.

nice find TY for the sharing--+5
