FAIL THREAD!!!!

Fourth amendment rights completely, 100% ignored.

I'm kind of shocked there is nothing about this on the news. Makes me wonder how many doors were knocked down because no one answered.

Not a fail at all. Patriot Act trumps all rights in the wake of a terrorist act. They shut down, and evacuated a 20 block radius looking for the suspect. I'm sure all the houses were locked. Were they suppose to ignore the houses that were locked?

I would have gladly had my door kicked down trying to find this kid, and I'm sure the residents of Watertown felt the same way. The authorities did an excellent job.

I suppose we have a bit of a difference of opinion here, in that I consider the Patriot Act itself to be an abysmal failure that strips away constitutional rights.

In this case, the authorities did not find the guy. An alert citizen did, and called it in.

So just to recap, you would be glad to have rifles showed in your face, be ordered out of your house, be patted down/searched, your property searched, and possibly damaged, all to find a criminal, who is possibly in your area?

Heck yeah. Its not like I would be good at their job. Seems like the term "times of terrorist risk" are padded down. They should be rather described as "matter of human life and human death". So yeah, please kick down my door. Shame on them if they moved on because no one answered the door.

Re-read my question please.

I'm actually kind of torn on the issue of what happens if no one is there, and the door is kicked down.

That wasn't my question though.

If I may recap further. The kid bombed the Boston Marathon killing 4, and injuring over 170 people, robbed a convenience store, gunned down a MIT police officer, hijacked a car, and got into a shootout with police, throwing bombs, and running his brother over in an escape attempt over a 4 day period. Damn tootin' I would do anything that was needed to stop this kid. The last thing I would be doing is crying about my 4th amendment rights. That would never come to mind in this situation.

We are talking about a terrorist here, not a hit and run suspect. Everyone was doing whatever was necessary to stop this kid, not matter what it was. I cant even fathom why you would call this a fail.

I call it a fail because people were forced out of their houses at gun point.

Had they been asked, the vast majority would comply.

Should they have refused though, they should not have been forced out.

Nor had their property trespassed on. There were no exigent circumstances, only a general knowledge that the suspect was possibly in the area.
