DTR's Reviews/Tutorials/Modifications Compilation

I'm familiar with that host. Nice to see a good a high end flashlight gutted and makes it way to the brighter side. This price range there's some very cool unique host opportunities..

i dont know about you guys but this thread gives me a chubby :D

Nice! Now you can prepare and cook meat with the same device :D

Funny

Yep I am always looking for unique quality hosts. It is fun to build something that not many see. Seeing the same C6 host popping up in every other thread can get very boring. Although the first laser I built was a C6 1W unit so it is a great starting point for people so I am not knocking it either.

Just a couple of guys helping each other out. Nothing wrong with that.

Yeah that's a pretty cool SolarForce model...

I have built several of those for buyers.

But the best SolarForce host is this Stainless Steel one that is totally polished:
Solar Force L2T Special Edition Flashlight Host for 18650 - L2 Host Stainless Steel

Just finished one of those for a customer, and it is an amazing host...

I have seen that one but have not had the courage to pull the trigger on a flashlight based 18650 host for $60. But it sure does look pretty sweet.

Really really nice builds & awesome hosts!
Will there be any 635nm m!t$ub!$! builds anytime?

Yea as soon as I get the time. I have been running pretty hard lately. I have not slept in about a year.:tired:

great reviews....i am thinking of using L2 Solorforce host with custom heat sink for my next build. which will be 405nm build for pure power and burning. I am planning on running 450-475mA as you mentioned somewhere, that it is safe current to run for the longevity of the diode. G2 lens...I think massive heat sink in this host should keep the diode nice and cool for longer cycle time and longevity of the diode.

what do you think DTR?

and what driver would you recommend for such build? flex driver? I would like to make around 700-800mW

thanks - gif

450mA and under for best life. 500mA max as an enthusiast setting.(reduction of life assumed)

@ 450mA you would be looking @ 550mW-700mW with a G-2.

I would suggest the Microboost as they are in stock right now and they were designed specifically for the 405 where the flex is not in stock currently.:cryyy:

I currently have a combo deal for them prewired as a drop in module for a very simple and safe install.

^awesome thanks for the reply and all your help....well 405 is next, first i am still waiting to receive parts for 445 and put it together :D

i am sure to be contacting you for 405.

Also question on L2 host, how did you manage to put 2 x 18350 in there? as you have mentioned in your review??? doesnt look like you are using extension for this host

thanks - gif

Wow that's a really nice build! Is it just me or does the wavelength of the beam look higher then 445nm or is it just me.
Good job

2X18350's are just a tad longer than a single 18650. The 18350 is 18mmX35mm and the 18650 is 18mmX65mm. So two 2X18350's would be 18mmX70mm. Some host cant fit 70mm long batteries but that one did.

Not sure which build you were referring to but camera's don't always show an acurate depiction of the wavelength. Fore example 405 and 445 look identical to my camera.

Here can you tell which one is the 405?

Dot, beam profile, and the hosts. You're much more likely to have a 405nm in the smaller host, and you can kind of see the beam narrow and then increase in size. I'm guessing you set the 445 to infinity inside first.

Side note... I really need to get my hands on a single mode 445:p
