Dragonlasers beam expander video

In January of this year I bought a DL Viper 95 mW GW; only two weeks ago I have had the opportunity to check its output power with my recent purchase, the LaserBee I power meter, and in a 30 sec. test (4 in. distance from the sensor) I have discovered that the average output is an awesome 125 mW :D (124 mW at the beginning and 127 mW at the end of the test). With such a quality result, noway, I have immediately ordered this beam expander! ;D

As far as power-loss goes, it does not "have-to" reduce your power a lot, but qaulity/price seems to be the determimng factor here.
The going-price for a "laser beam-expander", or a "laser-telescope" seams to be in the $400 range. Laser-Glo is just the first company in the recreational-market to provide these, there are lots of these available from "professional-laser companies", for example: http://www.beamexpander.com/?gclid=CK_ioZyv05ICFRImawodzxnNGg, or surplus: http://www.surplusshed.com/pages/item/pm1093.html . I bought a 10x "compact beam-expander" from Lasermate in California last winter for like $50, http://www.lasermate.com/optics.htm, this thing is smaller than the one from DL, and way smaller than Laser-Glo's even though they are all supposed to be "10X". Not only is the Lasermate much smaller, it also cut the power of any of my lasers to about half! I have not used it much, and I will probably sell it to someone cheap! I really like the look of the one from DL, I hope it works good! ;D
Sound like we need to have some people buy these and find out if they are good or not. I do not have any of the lasers they make adapters for, but I will look into making some universal-adapters for the "common-lasers", if they work out good. :)

group buy. Group Buy! GROUP BUY! GROUP BUY!!!

Yes, I would like to have one of these. :D

bad news and worse news.Bad is that the price wouldn't go down in bulk.worse news is that the price is going to go up by 10 to 30% soon. :'( :'( :'(

Good: Reasonable qaulity in general for an optic-product, (fit and finish), and of course its optical properties. How much power-loss is there? I would think over 10 percent loss would be unacceptable to me, but I have now idea what these are "spec'ed" at. My "Laser-Mate" 10x beam expander cuts over half of my output.

I wonder what the thread size is, standard C size ? (1 inch-32 TPI), and I noticed it says it's only a single lens? The Melles Griot's for example is a multiple lens system.

Specs are listed on the site. I have a Lasermate 10x expander too. As I surmise you know you can replace the lenses with properly AR coated ones from Edmund Optics, which I plan on doing.
Do you have access to a metal lathe ?
My solution for attaching this expander to my Novalaser Alpha laser was to purchase a pvc coupler reducer and enlarge both openings too slip fit over the ends of the laser and the expander. It works ok. That's why I asked about a lathe.

Opps my bad it does has 4 lens, I can't see where is shows the size of the threads though, C mount? Transmission says 98% though.
