Does Anyone Know if Dino Direct is any good?

This company is on my shitlist after their "Christmas 50% off sale" where they jacked up their prices 50-75% before applying the discount. I hope when their advertising contract is up it is not renewed. They make LPF look really bad IMO.

actually lets not post lies. they first put up their 50% discount, then after half a day or so jacked up the prices to 50-75% or so.
but you probaly didnt know ;)

@Rick --- I ordered a Firedragon III.
They actually called today to confirm reshippment. I'll ask for the tracking number tonight.

You have no faith ;) These devices are tested and certified
What more could you ask --- other than good shipping!!!

I actually want it for a 638 nM project. I want the heads to be interchangeable.

I ordered a 900 Lumen flashlight from them on 12/7. By 1/5 it had not arrived, nor did it appear to have been shipped with any tracking. So I didn't even bother trying to negotiate with them. After the WL crap I'm playing hardball with Chinese companies. No tracking and no item. *BAM* Dispute will be filed after 25 days. If there is tracking and it is detained at customs for more then 1 week. *BAM* Dispute will be filed.

Letting the chinese companies stall, delay, and play stupid with orders is letting the tail wag the dog.

If Dino, WL, et al want to do business in the west, they better learn to conform to western standards of customer service. Obviously some of them do, because I bought an item from Nico Enterprises on Xmas Eve, and the had it shipped by Monday, tracking number emailed, updates on the shipping. Well packed, worked great.

But Dino comes off like a company that advertises stuff it may or may not actually be able to deliver, but they will take you money as interest free loan until they manage to ship or you get pissed off enough to cancel.

I'm sure they make a good deal of money off people who miss the dispute deadline with paypal. I don't think they actually defraud, but their forum has a lot of people ranting about waiting months for an item, getting the wrong item, or getting the right item that doesn't work.

NEW info on DinoDirect for me :yh:.

They quickly processed my reshippment order and I have a tracking number now.
The package has reached customs there :D.

I do admit that holiday shipping may have caused the loss of this package but they are now communicating with me. That's the good news. There is hope for them yet.

The package may have been lost in the holiday shippments. Their communications may have been overloaded at the time but I told them that I will return the "lost" package, at my cost, if it ever arrives here.

Here's my experance, on 12-10-10 I ordered 4ea C1 hosts from them and they
promptly send out a confermation notice and then a shipping notice when they shipped.
well they arrived today in several layers of bubble wrap in a bubble envelope.
So I'm happy with them :)

Peace All...

i still got no answers from them yet.
looks like you just got to turn up the heat to keep the pressure on it with these kind of sellers, gues ill have to send some more mails myself to:evil:

anyway good to hear that they are finally taking actions like they should have done some time ago.
hope you recieve it soon, im looking forward to your review ( love the hand written/drawn powergraphs:yh: )

The power graphs are "drawn" by my Heathkit chart recorder. The old SOB still works !

Dino may have been flooded with calls but they need more people who understand English.... The call I got was hard to understand but I was driving on snow at the time .

Well it's been 42 days since I place my order so I went ahead and filed a dispute with paypal.
I was looking forward to getting my hands on one of those firedragon III's but it doesn't look like its gonna happen.
Customs has been sitting on my package since the 19th of Dec and I was about to run out of time to make my claim so it had to be done.

Damn shame too because I was one of the few who was able to get in on the actual sale prices before they went and hiked them up.

Oh well.....at least I should be getting my $400 back now.:can:

Having a fake sale is pretty unethical. That may be morally OK in China, but in the real world we have a word for that "fraud".

§233.1 Former price comparisons.

(a) One of the most commonly used forms of bargain advertising is to offer a reduction from the advertiser's own former price for an article. If the former price is the actual, bona fide price at which the article was offered to the public on a regular basis for a reasonably substantial period of time, it provides a legitimate basis for the advertising of a price comparison. Where the former price is genuine, the bargain being advertised is a true one. If, on the other hand, the former price being advertised is not bona fide but fictitious -- for example, where an artificial, inflated price was established for the purpose of enabling the subsequent offer of a large reduction -- the ``bargain'' being advertised is a false one; the purchaser is not receiving the unusual value he expects. In such a case, the ``reduced'' price is, in reality, probably just the seller's regular price.

So any of you who purchased at the inflated sale price should complain to the BBB and Trustwave and/or the FTC as you where scammed.

Many Western European countries will have similar laws.

The currently have an A- BBB rating, that should be a "F" for Fraud
