i've got 20 of them on the way. Should be here in a few days.

I should also have the heat sink done by the time they get here. I believe Dave has dibs on 5 of them. So i'll have 15 left to pass around for $15 ea. shipped, and more will come in later.

Mohrenberg, will it be $15 shipped to greece too? Or additional shipping cost will be applied for international orders?

I'd certainly like to have a couple from the first batch. If they work out well, I'll be ordering more :)

the price should be the same for first class shipping. I would need to check with the post office. But usually first class is about the same price price domestic and international. I'm on cell phone because internet has been broken all day so excuse any typos

These are pretty nice hosts and the price is certainly right. I can see these generating a lot of interest.

You might already be aware of this battery mod but with the 3XAAA battery hosts sometimes they can be made to use 2XCR2's. I have done this with my MXDL 3405. I learned this trick from Lonewolf.

A 3/4 piece of PVC cut to length with a 1/4" magnet in-between the batteries. I am using a rckstr driver. Originally I used the 3XAAA battery holder and used two 10440 and a spacer but those 10440s only have about 500 mah, the CR2 have about 800 mah

You can also remove the plastic "filler" in the tail cap to allow the use of an 18650 in that host.

Additionally, you can use an 18500 with a small magnet spacer

Peace,
dave

Thanks Dave!! I forgot about those.

Thats the great thing about 3XAAA hosts. Many different battery/voltage options which leads to different diode/driver options!!!

Thanks Mohrenberg for bringing these VERY affordable hosts to us!!!
+1.

i finally finished all my work on the lathe. Now i can focus on heatsinks for these hosts. The heatsinks for this host are 1.1" OD by 0.89" long. So they are a nice chunk of heat sinking.

Well...
I wasn't sure about these because of the flex drive being out of stock, and i know nothing about the micro's requirements so i went for a different host :(

It's not as pretty, but i'll be able to offer it at the same price. I got 20 of them for around $3 each, and they are pretty nice quality. nice and heavy. stock comes with a 3xAAA pill. I'm going to size it and see if it fits 2xCR123, or a single 18650 battery.

It's not a bad deal at all for $15...IMO

I'll take one.

Hey Kevlar

If you are planning on using a 18650 in your 3405 MXDL. I have a tutorial on how to mod the tailcap in my 1.6W 3405 MXDL review thread.

i'm definitely in for one of these :)

@mohrenberg the heatsinks are 0.89 inch right, so if i were to use this host for a green build my 60mm laser module would stick out about 40mm? or is there more room inside the host behind the heatsink for the module to go into?
