I think you should go with one that takes CR123's or similar.

At $15 a pop. I would buy a few.

The quality of the host would decide if I bought any more later

Looks like Mohrenberg is putting his new lathe and new set of skills to some use

I like the idea of the two colored hosts, purple for a 405nm and the blue for a 445nm build.
However that ribbed center just ruins it completely, sorry.

I have not seen the host, but you may have to add a spacer to take up the missing 10mm of length.

Also, I have not looked into the mAh is or what the current load is that the 14400 could handle.

If the walls of the battery tube are thick enough, you may be able to widen the ID for CR2s. It can see this being a good 2XCR2 or 1XCR2 host.
That way it can be used with Rkcstr drivers or the MicroFlex/Boost.

I wasn't sure about these because of the flex drive being out of stock, and i know nothing about the micro's requirements so i went for a different host

It's not as pretty, but i'll be able to offer it at the same price. I got 20 of them for around $3 each, and they are pretty nice quality. nice and heavy. stock comes with a 3xAAA pill. I'm going to size it and see if it fits 2xCR123, or a single 18650 battery.

It's not a bad deal at all for $15...IMO

i will be buying one of the new host kits regardless of battery type, but will buy several if it can use an 18650! also these would be fine for a green build with an inbuilt driver right (maybe with some modification and the module sticking out the end a bit to make up for extra length)?

@ mohrenberg- just checking, these still come with a heatsink right? and can u post international to Australia? if so how much?

I'd be really happy with 18650, but I've had good luck so far with 3 x 10440 setups, so I'm liking this one. Are these constant or momentary on (have to ask since it's not the typical tail switch)?

yup the $15 includes the heatsink.

Basically your paying $10 for the heat sink, and the rest is for the cost of the host + shipping.
They are constant on/off switches inside.
they just use clicky switch with long terminals folded over a plastic insert (like most side clickys do)
So it could be easily replaced with something else if you wanted momentary.

pretty cool, finally an REALLY CHEAP kit [for me ]
can u post a link where will u order them from? and you will be ordering only bare hosts or complete flashlights? (if yes will u be selling them with LED etc. included?)

I guess if you wanted the LEDs you could. This is one of those "14" led flashlights. so the leds are pretty much worthless.
