Direct Green Laser Diode Technology Progress

I got a quote...

At a quantity of 20 peices it would be 300$ each  no warranty either..

Anyone interested?

are you referring to the link I posted.

ask if they have any low wavelength oddball diodes they would sell cheaper.

My dad will think I'm crazy but I may just have to buy one of those diodes. :tinfoil:

Not sure of the prospects these diodes have. Clearly 510 is too low and they will probably need 520 -545nm to be of use to microvision. 515 gives you little room for error. As posted earlier here's the chart. I assume it means all the colors beyond the triangle should look the same on my computer screen.

I can't make a GB anymore sorry :cryyy:

Anthony,

Apparently delivery*is*going to be an issue. We have 120 of the 510nm laser and over 100 are dedicated to orders.*Due to the high demand for this laser and a Laser Focus Webinar we are sponsoring today we expect a high demand for this laser.*The manufacturer is not going to have their next run available until August.

Best regards,

It shows the sales in the LPF forum is just a tiny fraction of world wide sales.
I wonder who is buying all those 510nm diode ?

I don't know but likely projector manufacturers... We don't have that much buying power, especially when only 120 are available 4 times a year it's extremely rare,
I asked him if there are ANY left over to let me know ;)

I don't know about the projector manufacturers. The color is way off to produced an useful green. They need more 520-532nm green wavelength and not this forest green.

That's true, but for hobbyists it's an awesome colour, must be a very rich hobbyist

Well 530nm is boring for the wavelength collector since we have 532nm DPSS, but this is good because it means they will likely replace 532nm lasers in pico projectors :)

Hopefully these will be harvestable sometime soon!

Now when are we gonna see these things actually be used in something ya know?

We better get all of those "crappy" 510nm diodes before the big companies trash them. Maybe at a nice "obselete tech" discount too!

This really makes me want to hold off on getting a >300mW DPSS green and wait for a 100mW direct green, but I don't think we honestly will see these diodes under $250 before 2014, maybe 2015. I hope this happens sooner, but I don't see it happening at this point.
