So inspired by LaZeRz and lazereer, I decided to de-anodize and polish a couple of hosts of mine.

De-anodizing complete:

Thanks

That 2nd host had it's heatsink machined by rocket689 and is waiting for a nice 405 diode

I love the Assault Crown on the Ultrafire. It means if I want to pop balloons I don't need to waste my batteries

I really need to get a buffing wheel. Polishing by hand takes so long

nice job, I agree on the crown though that is what I am going to link to ppl when they ask about using a laser for self defense, you could skewer someone with that . :gj: SO is that just the effect of some lye and water and polishing?

It is very Nice... :)

The Crown is Nice But it scares me because i polished one just like it and it Darn right cut my Finger off when it caught on the wheel.:tinfoil:

Can you post a side view of the second host.? When you get a chance.:D

That's just lye and water (a strong mix. Took only 2 mins to strip the anodizing off. DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME - I have worked with lye for years and am comfortable using a stronger mixture) and a quick wipe with a cloth.

Polishing is happening between typing. :D

I'm not looking forward to hand polishing that crown. :tinfoil:

Nice :D

I've still got some work to do on my de-anodized hosts but they should be good to go in a few weeks!

Nice job on that ultrafire WF  ! Glad you put it too good use!

+1

Greetings,,

EDIT: @ lazeerer let's say you put an arctic in that lye+water and then put it on a buffing wheel. Would that give me the same effect you did fairly easy? :) if so i gotta buy me some lye and a buffing wheel since i now do all of the polishing by hand :tinfoil:

Thanks for the compliments guys. It's a labour of love. Next step is learning how to anodize.

I just started on an Arctic clone for Fiddy :) It's gonna look real nice

Yes it does fit a 22600 :)

I don't have any in hand but I can get them. $15+ ship.

CPF also has a review on an even larger TomCat. Link
