Hi everyone, I'm new here, I've checked what some of you built... impressive stuff guys.

As for me I was wondering what is the shortest / smallest laser pointer available or doable custom made. It would be for a piece of jewelry (a big gold ring), a pyramid to be exact where the top would send a beam so I need the laser pointer to be as short as possible to fit inside the pyramid. I would like to pay to get the laser pointer custom made, if any you guys can/want to do it let me know or if not where I could get it done.

If it could be about 1 or 1.25 inch short or even smaller, does not need to be very powerful just solid, any color laser would do, off course battery operated and have a push button on the side like the cheap ones you see for key chains... I would need 2 or 3 copies in case one of them breaks. I would not mind sending a small cash advance to confirm how serious I am to my ''scientist'' :bowdown: I would pay through paypal. I am from Canada.

So if anyone is interested in the contract please let me know

You will have to make it a red laser. It will not have a driver but instead will run off of a miniature Lithium battery. It will be around 125mW. The beam will not be that visible but that is the only way I can see this happening given our current technological state and limited access to micro lasers.
 
I was thinking if power weren't a concern, using one of those tiny 3.3mm modules that lasers4u sells on ebay. the one dave posted a while back.
 
I trust you guys, it would be at least as powerful as the little cheap keychain laser you can buy for 5 or 6 dollar at the pharmacy? ... if so I don't think I need more power than that.
 
The one that Dave posted is probably the smallest one that you can find already done and ready-for-use (great find, Dave, i was not more thinking about those modules at all :)).

If you instead want to do it yourself, cannot do the same size, but still can build something like this one

It's a PHR ..... i done it for a project i was working on, but that actually is stopped, same as almost all my other projects (i've to made some home repairs and works, so no more free time, for a while :p)

Not focusable, but, hey, after all, it's DIY :p (and also, i had no idea about how thread screw track on a brass tube thin 0.2mm, for made it focusable ..... or else ..... :p)

"This little module could be powered by small button cell batteries" ok so from that module could any of you guys build the complete laser pointer, Batery/on-off switch etc...

ya know it would be easier to understand what it is your trying to accomplish if you were to draw it out. Doesn't need to be beautiful, just let us know what your trying to do. I'm thinkin it would be just as easy to use a mirror and point it in the direction you need and house it inside the pyramid but obviiously have no clue of total size of the unit.
 
Something like this but just shorter and does not have to be that clean as long as it works fine and is solid I will build the jewelry around it

here's the idea of the laser I would just need it shorter. like 1 or 1.5 inch total

I don't care about what the laser pointer looks like, I'm wanting to know what the peice of jewelry that your putting the point into is going to look like. Where you want teh laser pointing out of the jewelry and why. Those are the important things.
 
Here is a simple picture of what the jewelry will be about, it shows you where the laser pointer will go, Where the laser will come out, and the why?: why not =-) !
if it's over 1.25 inch long the problem is that the ring will be too long to actualy go on my finger.

I can make the laser module 1/2" long if thats what you want and and a push on push off electronic switch also now that I can see what it is you want to put it in. I will wait to hear from you.
