Here's a fun little unit! :)

I received a small 3.3mm red laser from Lasers4U

eBay Seller: lasers4u: Business Industrial, Electronics items on eBay.com

OMG! This thing is tiny! When I first opened the package, I just stared at it for awhile :o

It has its APC unit INSIDE this tiny assembly. That's right -- NO DRIVER NEEDED! Its lens is simply "slipped" over the front of the diode. It is powered by 3V and puts out 4mW. The unit was powered continuously for about 5 minutes with no heat sinking at all. When I turned it off, it wasn't even up to room temperature :)

Here it is on top of a penny so you can see the size of it. (Yes, I know that my macro shots suck)

Here is the obligatory beam shot (with visualizer)

The spot is a bit "messy", but for the size and integral lens, it will work just fine as a pointer or for special effects use. This shot is at 25 feet.

The spot is actually not quite as bad as this shot makes it look. I think that my camera is dying :( The screen and pictures are starting to look like they are "melting."

All-in-all an interesting laser. If you are working on something small that needs "laser eyes" or need to include lasers into something, this would certainly do the trick.

Hmmmmmm -- a laser glove without all the bulk . . . . . . .

Peace,
dave

Aww that's cute :o. Nice quick review Dave ! Might need to get one of these for myself ;)

hmm, I may stick one in this mini-mag I have laying around. Nice review!

I got one of those too Dave!

Unbelievable how small they are! And how cool it runs...

any possibility of this being modified so that the BDR-203 red diode can go on it, for a tiny high powered diode?
edit: nevermind...driver is inside the diode.

Does anyone know if these are still available anywhere? I want to build an ultra-tiny laser to glue to the frame of an older, non-picatinny-railed concealed-carry handgun. Doesn't have to be super-robust, just really small.

Interesting review. I always considered giving them a try, but I figured I'd be given a high quote. Though I never considered looking anywhere else.

Don't mean to burst anyone's bubble, but these have been around for quite some time.

Laser66 has had them since at least August of 2011 (last time this page was updated)

here :)

EDIT: Just noticed this was a necro-thread from 2009.

Disregard...
