This thread is for people to post about CPU overclocking that they've done. Just list the cpu type and original processor speed, and what you overclocked it to.

Also, say if you use the stock cpu heatsink or if you use a special heatsink (And what kind if you can remember).

Post idle/load temps and if it's still running or not (that's kind of important  :P)

Mine:
Intel Celeron D 3.06ghz processor
Stock heatsink (large round aluminum with fins and copper core)
Overclocked to 3.68ghz
Idle - 38C
Running F.E.A.R. on high settings 1024x768 - ~52C
Working great
 





Core 2 Duo e6300

Stock: 1.86ghz
Heatsink: Thermalright xp-120
OC: 2.33ghz


Temps? IDK, this pc is like a hair blower....plus that 4850...ughh.
But it runs 100% stable, never crashed because of temps.
 
Download SpeedFan and list the temp  ;)

If it hasn't crashed it's fine, just curious at how warm it's running.

I don't want to install speedfan again. It never showed the correct temps. If I recall correctly it was 64°C at room temp.
 
core2duo1.86. I overcocked to 3.01GHz with stock fan and arctic silver coumpond . Temp = 37.5 C
 
Yeah, speedfan can be quirky. Never worked right with my old computer. Works fine with this comp though.
 
Intel Pentium Dual Core E5200 2.5ghz OC'd to 2.75ghz :P That's as high as I can go before it gets unstable due to my motherboard (can't change/higher the voltage and give it what it needs). I've heard of people getting this cpu up to 3.5ghz on stock fan, and up to 4.2ghz water cooled :o It has a high multiplier (12.5). So it's a GREAT cpu for overclocking :D

EDIT: also, speedfan sucks, EVEREST FTW!

Yeah I think a lot of the newer processors need voltage and fsb increases in unison to overclock to those insane levels. I read somewhere that on the newer ones (dual core, etc.) if you increase just the multiplier too high without increasing voltage as well it just gets unstable fast.

Thanks for suggesting everest but it doesn't work with my cpu, very faulty reports (went up to 70 and then down to -1, lol. numbers all over the place) And yes, it gave me a message when I started it saying it would not work properly :-/

Yeah, mine was ALMOST stable at 2.8ghz, but it crashed 2-3 times a day. At 3ghz, wouldn't even boot lol. That sucks that everest doesnt work for you. It works so WELL for me lol :P I also like that it shows EVERY single freaking aspect of your pc! :D
 
Q6600 Core 2 Quad

Stock: 2.4ghz
[highlight]OC:    3.0ghz  Stock cooler[/highlight]  Currently installed
OC:    3.6ghz :o  Water cooled  Pump died, went back to old setup :)

Temps: 50°C to 59°C with Prime 95
 
Pretty much what iskor had on water - I have a Q6600 currently at 3ghz, but I have had it up to around 3.6. It would POST at 4 but was not stable, so I left it within the "slightly insane" grade boundary. It peaked at 59-60 degrees, and idled at the low fifties or high fourties. It's under water cooling (Fuzion block with a 360mm radiator, variable speed pump at highest RPM), but I have been having motherboard issues, so until I have some money, I am stuck at only moderately pushing the boundaries of Intel's design limits ;)

Unfortunately, another side effect of my motherboard is that I don't even have a working drive - when it is plugged in, the machine frequently hung up. I might get round to diagnosing and debugging it, one day  ::)

on zalman headsink with homemade fan 8-)

i have it at 2.4 now and having it at 4 was dumb as my mobo/ram couldnt even support it anyway

Yeah it was pretty nice and actually stable.  I just have had the time, nor motivation to get the water cooling system back up and runing.  Eventually I may do it again. :) Maybe when I get a new case.

HAHAHA, Yup, those Q6600 are very easy to OC and they are pretty stable while doing it.  4ghz, now thats crazy!!
 
Does overclocking a Intel Atom from 1.6Ghz to 1.8Ghz without any extra cooling count? :p
