Re: PRESALE: Copper Pen Host - The Cypreus Series 2x10440 and 1x10440

When are the invoices going to be sent out on these?

^^^ bump

Also, is the inside of the host anodized? I am wondering if I will be able to use the case pin on my M140 diode to get a case connection :)

Thanks

Re: PRESALE: Copper Pen Host - The Cypreus Series 2x10440 and 1x10440

? m140s have a null case pin. You would have to put a solder blob into the neg pin hole to make it case "-" IIRC. or just use a pill type design with the "-" driver input wedged between the board and host.

Re: PRESALE: Copper Pen Host - The Cypreus Series 2x10440 and 1x10440

Yeah, since when do we use the case pin on a M140. DTR cuts them off prior to selling them anyways

Re: PRESALE: Copper Pen Host - The Cypreus Series 2x10440 and 1x10440

Only time I used it is to change to case positive for the e2 because the x switch changes it from case negative by soldering the case lead to the positive input on that specific driver.

man tmack im jealous (+1!). you built your e2 a little while after i settled on putting one of the old "50mw" fasttech greens in my e3... shoulda waited for my m140 diode to show up ><

Got big power from it too. Peaks at about 1.6w at 1.25a and stays surprisingly cool for about a minute. Not that I run it for that long. This is why I'm jumping all over these pens .

Ill have a 2 cell for a 3w 9mm
And 4 1 cells for a 405nm 500mw
638nm 500mw
520nm 250mw
445nm 1000mw
All boost driven.

I liked building my ms v3 set so much I think I'm going to do another with these!!

I think i got you confused. The "unused" pin on the M140 diode is the case pin, and is not connected to either of the other pins. I want to use this to pickup the ground from the case, so i dont have to use a wire.

So, i am wondering, can i do this with this host?

EDIT: Sorry guys i am actually using the new PL TB450 diode which HAS A CASE PIN. So ignore the M140 part.

My question is, can i use the case pin, or will there be anodizing in the host preventing this
THIS IS A QUESTION FOR SINNER. No speculation please.

Thanks

You don't need to. Cut it off. The diode will pick up the ground just fine.

How do you mean? I don't understand. I cant have the diode picking up the ground directly. It needs to go through the driver...

Please fill me in... :(

Even if there is ano on the inside, sand paper will solve that

Re: PRESALE: Copper Pen Host - The Cypreus Series 2x10440 and 1x10440

As long as your getting continuity from the tail cap to the pill you should be fine. Unless your doing like a fastech module where you eed continuity to the inside of the heatsink.

Your driver would need to have a positive or negative input for the case lead to be soldered to in order to make the case one way or another. But since that's not an issue with these builds ( I'm assuming) just having continuity to the pill should be fine,

That set is going to be AWSUM!

Although you said that the 4 1x10440 hosts are going to be all boost driven, the 638nm diode
will not need boosting since it has a low vf similar to XML LED's. Unless you where thinking of
boosting a AAA 1.2v battery (which is a bad idea) you'd only need a single 3.7v cell with an x-drive or AMC driver for the 638 diode to work.

I can't wait 'till sinner or someone else shows of their 9mm 3 watt build in one of these pens!

Wish I could jump in on this, but money is low :(

Re: PRESALE: Copper Pen Host - The Cypreus Series 2x10440 and 1x10440

Direct press isn't sinner style. Would be surprised if they were.
Yup, I never made direct press hosts, I like the flexibility of a 12mm module which usually is copper so i dont see any need for this.

When are the invoices going to be sent out on these?
This is still TBD, as soon as the pre-sale ends payments will be requested.

damn sinnner... got me again . Now i just have to find out how to pay my rent...
Wups :eg: Brian, you're too kind my friend, appreciate it.

The insides of the hosts (regardless of the finish) is not anodized or coated/insulated, you can use the case pin of your M140 diode.

I'm so excited I just can't wait to get my host.

I CAN NOT WAIT ANY LONGER :P

Beautiful hosts... I want it! Naow!

I'm like a kid in a candy store when I'm looking at post one.

You must update us when there is any progress! :thanks:
