1 washing with warm water and soap will not wash away the "hottness" of chiles from your hands! it is recommended to use gloves when cutting chiles...

If you rub your soapy hands on some stainless steel it will release the capsaicin and odors from onions, and garlic.

Great advice from Chip and T_J too-I use gloves especially with haberneros-- by comparison Jalos are not even hot- but in your eyes they all sting like crazy-

-I once had some truly hot sex with my GF when I failed to wash my hands throughly--we were on fire everywhere!!!!

:wtf: of course I was refering to Basil--I love the smell of fresh basil--easy to grow -mucho gusto pesto--it's a fav...:yh:--hak
 
speaking of pesto.. i make a great salad dressing with it...

pesto
extra virgin olive oil
lemon

make the lemon and olive oil base first.. then whisk in pest until you can just taste it.

i usually throw this on top of a mixed greens salad with hearts of palm and steamed shrimp.
 
Somebody mentioned bacon-wrapped prunes. I dunno, not a big fan of prunes, but someone made some bacon-wrapped dried dates, they were great! I think they just wrapped whole dried dates with a piece of thick bacon

oh you wanna talk bacon......

i make a great snack...
jalapenos
bacon, preferable thick cut smoked kind
queso fresco
tooth picks
soy sauce

cut the stem off jalapeno and cut enough off so you can gut it with a potato peeler
then cook the jalapenos in the soy sauce just long enough to absorb the flavor but not long enough to wilt.
stuff with queso fresco
wrap with bacon and put a tooth pick through to lock in place.
use a cookie pan and line jalapenos on the edge so the open hole is angled upwards so the chees wont melt out when you bake them to cook the bacon.

Sounds so good I must make some today--one side note tho--
Since I like my bacon crispy- I use either thin cut or a partially cook the bacon before I wrap items-
'trial and error' will tell you the best results for whatever item you are bacon-wrapping--

my fav is still BACON WRAPPED BACON--:na:
