I think it's too late to wonder if it's as safe as goggles.

Who in their right mind would point a laser directly at their pupil? I may be a noob here, but even if I had the proper goggles on, I still don't think I'd point the laser at my eyes anyway.

yes it's true, but by means of power meter you could have an indication of the beam power before and after the use of filters. I have done several times and you can easily see the difference between safety goggles and Ray-Ban

You didn't realy point your laser at your eye did you ? isn't that kinda like checking for 240volts with your finger and tounge :tinfoil: get a LPM befor you go blind !
