This thread is for everyone who has built their own 445nm laser so that those who haven't yet built one can find all the information they need on one thread.
I would like the successful builders to post the following information:
laser host: hand held ,labby ,other (in all cases describe it and how to get one like it if possible and the cost paid for it)
lens assembly: brand,lens type,cost
driver: brand,style,voltage in/out,current draw when running,cost
power source: type,voltage/current output,brand,where to buy one,cost
laser safety glasses used: OD,brand,where to buy several,cost
Laser diode: a130,a140,a150,other specify
laser diode volt/amp requirements: needed,maximum known,what you are currently using.
over all build: total cost
unique,requirements,tools,methods,etcetera
anything I missed: details,cost,where to find

Hmm. a150.. Those were discontinued. Wonder if casio ran in to trouble with the diodes at that high of power.

Were the a150s rated brighter overall? I know the a240s and the like were just a resolution increase (I think you told me that..)

Talking about just the B/G component of the lasers; aren't they going to have to raise the current on the Phlatlight LED too (color balance issues) - or is it possible that that's not the bottleneck in the system...

The A150 series was discontinued at the first of the year. The A150 series had a laser array rated at 3000 lumen. They probably just couldn't get enough of them that binned at 3000 lumen

a130 = 2000 lumen
a140 = 2500 lumen
a150 = 3000 lumen

The fact that the a150's vanished yet the 130's and 140's are still around.. It was certainly something in the light source that was problematic, since otherwise, they should have been no different than the 130's and 140's

my neighbor made me a custom heat sink
