We often read interchanges like this:

1) It is a beautiful blue
2) That's not blue. It is more greenish. I would call it turquoise.
3) Turquoise is more green that this. It is definitely cyan
1) Well it looks blue to me

We know that just a few nm difference in wavelength can affect out color perception. However, our personal perception also affects what we "see."

Test your perception of different hues at the link below

Test your color IQ

Well . . . . I'm not the worst for my age range (50-59) ;)

However, my score did suck

No wonder I enjoy monochromatic beams :D

dave

What an interesting test! Thanks Dave.

I scored 3 out a highest possible score for my gender and age of 1520 and the lowest being 0. I thought that was pretty good and am pleased that playing with these new 445s at over 900mW has not dented my perception!

[EDIT: I didn't think to screen shot my test :yabbem:]

Does that mean when I say it's blue, IT'S BLUE!!!?

Nice find...

That's a pretty neat test. I managed to pull off a 7, which is way better than I would have figured I'd do;)

I didn´t get the point why the age does metter at the end-calculation :thinking
There is always a 0-1520 range as we see on the posts here...
What is good for ones age, and what is bad?

Jerry, do you use the new Windows 98? :D

Ha! Nice find.

I aced the test - scored a zero (perfect color acuity). Here's a screenshot:
http://www.fractalfreak.com/wx/ColorAcuityTest.PNG

Note this is on my CRT monitor, which is reasonably calibrated. I scored a 16 on my laptop using its LCD display. With the LCD slight head movements caused the colors to shift, making the test harder.

To help calibrate your monitor, look at any of the camera reviews off of <dpreview.com>. The bottom of the first page of any review will have colored blocks (a - z) that you need to be able to uniquely discern. See bottom of this page:
Panasonic DMC-G2 Review: 1. Introduction: Digital Photography Review

Daguin - I must protest. You started this topic, yet will not divulge your score ?!
