Coast HP7 mod NDB7875 1.8a Xboost

Another time consuming build
Getting these coast,s flashlights open is a long process, then shapping the copper module to fit also takes time,
I was intending to drive this 9mm diode at 2.4a with a 4.5a boost driver but this driver was falty,
So instead of waiting for a replacement I decided to use a 1.8a Xboost set to max.
This flashlight is just perfect size for a laser with one bat, it feels very solid and nice. I spent enough time on this one though, I would have liked to bring it back to a bare aluminium look. Maybe I'll do a silver copy with the new 9mm can 2.6w 465- that would be a nice set.
The 26500 effest IMR fits nicely witch evens out the top heavy copper sink,
I took apart the clicky and soldered not 1 but 2 wires from the outer connection pins for the host ground and left the centre pin in for my bat contact.

I also had to take the red au ring of the outer clicky for a tighter fit with the host for a better ground, in the process scratching the anodising under the ring a little.

This diode was brand new but seems not very efficient since I'm only getting 2w at 1.8a, on the other hand it's built very well and very solid and should last a very long time.

hi Bill,
Nice job again its of work those coast hosts but they seem to be solid for the 35mm sink. Im sure you will be changing that driver to accommodate that diode with 2.4A's. with nobody making host i guess we have to adapt and modify now. Jordan will be getting in the 20 and 25mm sinks soon so we will have a selection of sizes to narrow down the hosts we find. +rep buddy

Congrats and you earned satisfaction for completion. Can't REP yet.

I don't know how you figured out how to post those small pics and to still be able to click on them and make them big but I wish others would do that!

I haven't built anything much in awhile but actually have a few things in the works when some more pieces/parts come. Going to be building a couple of 9mm 462nm builds into full heavy brass double 18650 hosts if all goes well. Might be a bit tricky. Haven't felt well for awhile now and it puts a big damper on building.
