CNI GB #9 New low price on Yellow Laser

Mine came in today. They both work. I haven't had time to really play with them though, seeing as how I'm still at work. My green is pretty sweet. I can just imagine what that extra 200mW is like!
 





Yeah, works great. Has the divergence of my $800 HeNe too.

I'll bust out the rubber grippy thing and vise grips in a bit.

Hmm I hope mine isn't glued when it finally comes. Whats the actual divergence on it about .9mrad?
 
Man you guys are killing me. I want to bust out of this office and speed home to get mine. Alas I will have to wait another 2 hours.

Probably around that. A tenth if I can get the damn expander mounted.

EDIT: I got the cap off. The beam doesn't exit straight and spashes on the expander. Only about half of it goes through. Really, CNI?

If you are careful, re-aligning the lens may help.

That is the disadvantage of the DL beam expander... while it is easy to install, there is no way to adjust alignment.

Also, if you guys are interested in seeing how my broken laser is doing (:cryyy:), I have updated the review with pics.

My PGL-III-532-400 came today; This is one Glenn said peaked at 690. (I do believe him, I'm just wondering if I'm looking at this right..)

On startup, it stays at ~180mW (blech) for about a minute, but then does jump up to around 410mW once the temperature comes up. I haven't gone past a 2 minute duty cycle.

Am I doing something wrong? Do these like longer duty cycles than I'm used to? I know you have to "get to know the laser" when it comes to DPSS.

(Also, I know it's ambiently wamer where Glenn is.. Maybe this laser likes the heat?)
 
DPSS laser are often "individuals" with their own preferences. I ran this unit for 4.5 min, and it just got higher for 3 to 4 min. Do not worry, the slower they climb the better in my exp. -Glenn

My pgl-iii-c 473nm takes a full 2 minutes before it hits 100mW. If your laser takes a long time to warm up chances are it will not overheat with constant use. If it hits full power imidietly then chances are it will overheat and lose power after 1 minute. In my experience this is how it has worked anyway
 
Also I got my PGL-III-M today. It totally kicks butt. I love it. I have only fine 2 test but of the two tests I got a peak of 113mW. It seems much less stable than my PGL-III-C which worries me fir longevity but I love it. Expect a full review eventually. Thanks Glenn.
 
Yes yobresal, this is much what I have seen too. So the duty cycle is largely determined by how quickly the laser heats itself up. You may be able to tell the inside is getting warm or it may be too insulated or too fast w/ some lasers. My Viasho blue (473nm 5 mW rated), comes on at 7-8 mW, then after 4 min. it is at 26-30 mW where it may stay for 3 min. or more on cooler days. Many of those green DPSS highest output units like Ohada reviewed, will hit >500 mW in just under 1 min. but will be dropping fast before 2 min. I personally prefer the slow to "warm-up" units. -Glenn
