Re: GB: 3.5W 445nm diode information/giveaway

Hey Arg, found any sources for Nichias new 9mm 1000mW 476nm diode yet? I would certainly contribute to a GB for one of them!

Even if I did I wouldn't run a GB for it right now. Two at a time is my limit, I don't want to over commit. ;)

Yea, I was kinda joking about that :p I have a feeling we won't see those for a long while. Similar to the multimode 1.6W 405nm Nichia has on their site- they have been there for nearly a year, and I have never seen them for sale anywhere. It seems the diodes on their site are more of "Hey look what we can make!" kinda thing, rather than something that is readily available.

Has anyone checked with DTR to see if he will be getting this diode anytime soon?

@DWU (Ironically I used to play in a gamer group called Umbrella)
Yes I will be doing the testing :)

Well seeing as how the 1W 520nm is coming from DTR, dont see why we cant get Jordan to buy these and we can get them through him ;)

Ok, so i have never chipped in on a group buy before, but im keen to put some cash in for this diode, from what i understand we pay at the end when the amount is reached, but I am wondering who is collecting the money for this Gb and if i can pay soon while i have money - instead of at the end, i would not expect the money back if this GB did not follow through, i would just ask for it to be put towards the next Gb , hope that makes sense

Re: GB: 3.5W 445nm diode information/giveaway

BTW, Rick Trent may have one we can buy. I spoke with him a while back about buying one of these myself and I'm pretty sure he had them back then for around $500 or a little more. I think I did ask DTR about these and don't recall ever getting a response from him (that would be strange too because he's the best about responding). Do you have a source picked out yet? Anticipated price for one of these? I'd really like to see what's in the can on this one. Any way you could de-can it without ruining it? I can't imagine how they have stuffed enough business mix into a 9mm can to get this output unless it's just a tiny bit more than the current 9mm and just overdriven and run close to its margins.
