For a unique first name, how about Oak?

Definitely try to find something short not long and complicated. I wish my legal name was Ben not Benjamin. At least its common enough that everybody knows how to spell it, that would get very annoying.

My wife also was in a rush to name both our daughter and son prior to birth. The
way I saw it was to wait and meet your child.. I think this is more important if it
is your first born. My advice is to compile a list of names you both like then see
which one matches them best. The only exception I think would be if you are
naming after an elder family member..
