BDR-S06J sled harvest

Awesome, thanks Tech. I wanted to start getting into some 405 and was like hmmmm :thinking: at the little heatsink.

I am only suggesting this method with this diode. And make sure you do very slight back and fourth motions. You don't want to completely bend the heatsink we are just trying to break the adhesive that holds the diode in. It will work with others but as anselm pointed out some are harder and can possibly hurt the can. Different sleds require different methods. With some it is better to use the file method and take your time. This one just happens to be very easy and the heatsink is quite brittle.:beer:
 
It makes sense, every situation is different. Different manufacturers use different materials, adhesives etc. Thanks for the advice :beer:
 
Its a Red 660nm plastic case diode. Not push it pst 350mA. But it might be Hard to mount it. Since there is No heatsink for such diode. So adding a lens might also be difficult.:(

The 3.8mm IR/Red combo is only found in the BDR-205 12x sled and IIRC the name of the sled BDR-203 8x sled. Not sure if they are in the 8x sleds either but i know for sure they are in the BDR-205 12x sleds.:)

Ok I see ;) All the BDR-xxx sleds confuse me sometimes between the different numbers :p
 
Hey guys, I am about to set the current on my flexdrive. What is a safe current ( atm good for power ) to drive these blu ray diodes at? Thanks

My bdr-so6j at 500mA did 650mW , and 820 with a g-1.

500 should be good, but if it's not good enough for you, go to 550 MAX, as Lazerz said
 
Well, i you wan't to let your diode live a long peaceful life, then, thats cool :D

When your spending around 50 dollars on sleds and extracting the diodes from them you dont want your diode to die in 1 or 2 months (like my LOC :p)

True. Plus it will be a while till I can make lasers again. Or repair them anyway. Please watch the review in a moment I'll have it posted.
