Are there any Petrolheads on this forum??

Ah, the one that got away! :( what kind of bhp was it putting out?

I will always remember my first car, lol! red ford fiesta classic 1.1 litre...55bhp!!
as far as cars go it was pretty bad, but had some awsome times in that thing!!:D

@quadcam - sounds good... v8's are nice, not so good over here in the UK when petrol is so expensive:( , what are you driving at the moment??

@photonaholic - got any pics of your passion?:yh:

I have a 2009 Pontiac G8 GT. 6.0L v8 with 361 horsepower but it gets 29mpg on the highway fairly consistently. It's a nice little family car that will hold me over from my young guy ghetto but fast Mustang days to my middle aged guy sweet and very fast Mustang days. LOL

g8 is 10x faster than mustang gt.

i have beat mustang gt's in my wrx.

Depends on the year really. My G8 is a bit slower than the 05+ Mustang GT's, right on par with the 99-04's, noticably faster than the 94-98's and quite a bit quicker than the old fox bodies.

I don't like people knocking the old GT's because they're "slow". A 1996 GT with 225 horsepower might be slow by today's standards, but new it was a $15,000 car that would destroy anything in it's price range when it was new. That's 14 years ago now, there's people on this forum who aren't that old. They were good cars that would do what they were meant to do; be cheap, fun to drive, and competitive with other "entry level" sports cars while still being rwd and a v8. That's what the GT is all about, and it does that very well.

If you want a Mustang that will hold it's own for years to come, get a Cobra. A stock, well driven 1996 Cobra with nothing but drag radials will hold it's own with (if not beat) anything that can be had today for less that $40000.

I never had it dyno'd because it was hard to find a 4wd dyno around here. They came from the factory with 195hp and Im guessing it had around 220-230hp after the mods. It felt faster, lol.

sweet, I was just looking at some vids of G8 GTs to see, seems like a bit of a beast :D bet its not quite so good on fuel if you put your foot down a bit;) 29mpg is better than I would have thought. I only average about 34mpg in mine...

thats pretty sweet, must have been fun...:D mines got about 195bhp with the mods ive got, and i love driving it! :D

Ha ha if I put my foot down on mine I have no idea what type of gas mileage I get but I know I was mudding one day and went through about 15 gallons in about 30-35 min with my foot all the way in it the whole time : )

No idea what it’s going to do now with a 750 cfm holly compared to the 600 cfm edelbrock carb ... and it’s my daily driver as I am a college student : )

Really nice cars .... bummer theirs not more trucks

Edit just did the calculation at approx 60 mph wheel speed ( 3rd gear about 4k RPM ) the tires would go 1 mile every min roughly and at 30 min that would be 30 miles so about 2 mpg : ) not bad

It's a quick little car. It runs low 9's at 77 or so mph in the eighth stock, which would translate to roughly 14.2 at 99 in the quarter (I've made about 5,000 passes so I can guess fairly accurate most of the time ;)). That's pretty quick for a vehicle that I bought solely to be my family car. When I get into it around town, it gets like 9mpg, when I drive it easy around town, I'll see 18-20. Trying to get the best fuel economy back and forth to work is a game I play. My current best score going to work is 25.1 mpg, but that was a tail wind the whole way, no traffic and no red lights lol

2 mpg! I litterally wouldn't be able to afford the petrol to run that over here, lol...:D (I'm a student too)

14.2 is pretty good...:D Ive never done a timed 1/4 mile in mine, but from what ive read from others with same car and silmilar mods, it would probably be around 15.2 seconds, which is ok, but I would like a bit more power;)

How much are you guys paying for fuel? where I am its about £1.18 for a litre of the good stuff (99ron)!!:(

Re: Are there any Potheads on this forum??

I'm sure we have potheads on the forum.

Judging by some posts I've read, they had to be stoned when they posted it.
