Another review of the Spyder Arctic G2 445nm Blue Laser (this one to be destroyed!)

I have such a hard time reading how LEDs reviews are worded out, so detailed yet so ridiculous.... sorry :(

What exactly do you find "so rediculous" about them?
I'd be more than happy to change my review format on this BBS if there's something that's in most or all of my reviews that's pissing people off.

I found all the reviews of the Arctic rather helpful. After reading the info, I was fully aware of what I would receive, and I was not disappointed. The lower output was acceptable when coupled with the fact that this thing has no duty cycle. You just turn it on and run it until you are ready to turn it off.

Now if mine broke prematurely like a few people here have reported, then I would be let down, but it seems to be working perfectly. After reading one review, I removed the lens from the high power optic as it reflected approx 8mW back into the diode. (I really don't understand why it was used in the first place.)

The Arctic works just fine for me, with all the time involved in setting up a photo, it's nice not worrying about the laser overheating.

Hrm how do I say this without sounding menacing. It's your verbiage I guess......

"Somebody set up us the bomb. "
"OPERATION DOODLEBUG HAS NOW COMMENCED!!!"
"***VERY, CRITICALLY, SUPER DOOPER IMPORTANT!!!***"
"(or "11 Jan. 2011" or even "Jan. Double Sticks, Twenty Double Sticks" if you prefer."

Why all the extra, unnecessary junk? Some of your facts & data are repeated several times too making this much longer & heavier than necessary IMO. I personally would love to enjoy your reviews, but without all the comic relief and added extras I just dont have the attention span. It'd take 1/2 the time to get through while still covering what's important without all the extras.... just my .02

Ok, all of the extra "unnecessary" frills removed from my O.P.
Please feel free to look it over and see if I failed to remove something that I should have.

I personally never had any problems with your idiosyncrasy.
Amazing how anal some people can get over a few words....
I, myself, might have worded it in a different fashion, but hey, newsflash, it's not my review.

I guess some people are just jealous they don't have a spectral analyzer.

Cut him a little slack on the verbiage, guys. He is an old BBS geek. You can Google "BBS" ;)

He is from a time when we had 32Kbs, dial-up modems and had to pay for our internet access by the minute!

Back then, we had to keep people interested with such verbiage as he uses.

This was what a "cute cat video" would have looked like at the time

@ LED -- They are just trying to pull you into the 21st century

Peace,

You don't have to re-do your work because I shared my opinion about your write up. I just came across your review last night, started to read it and got a little lost after about 10 minutes with the redundancy and comics. I remember this being the case when I couldn't read your 1st Arctic review awhile back so I just thought I'd share my .02 this time.

Again I don't mean to sound menacing or like I'm being an ass towards you - that is not my tone & why I said I was sorry when originally commenting :) Please take no offense from my opinion though, wasn't meant to set you off towards a bad weekend

EDIT: You did remove it all.. Well thank you. I remember once changing an annoying avatar for a certain member here, so I feel that favor's just passed along again. Honestly though, it looks much more professional now IMO. Well done!

Ok, all of the extra "unnecessary" frills removed from my O.P.

I honestly have to agree with danefex, but it never bothered me to the point of making it unreadable.

Investing in a LPM would really make your reviews perfect.

This review is 1000 times better IMO with all the "the punishment zone... Etc Etc" Removed  I will enjoy to read any new reviews from you in the future in this same "Outline"

Keep up the good work.

There are lots of things to be said about a laser besides it's power....

Not really. The thing people want to know most is its power level. This is because ALL laser performance depends on the output. Diode life, color spectrum, current usage, ect are dependent on the output variable. You cannot judge performance without it.

I'm not trolling here. If you look at 99% of the laser reviews here, the power level is posted in the beginning.

I'm getting a LaserBee meter very soon (it has a maximum measurement capability of 2.50 watts) -- and the first two "victims" of course will be my Arctics. So please stay tuned to this station. :D
