They put a satellite in the chamber, pump out all the air, regulate the temperature inside with liquid nitrogen, and simulate sunlight with an array of xenon lamps. There's more in the PL thread.

That was a very large room but massive is what I would call the Seattle King Dome
CDI took the 8,000,000 cubic feet of air out of it in just a few seconds :crackup:
It was really nothing more than a big room.
