How profitable is owning a site that sells laser? Are most of your customers from LPF and other sites?
 





From watching stores come and watching stores go, I would think that it could never replace your "day job"

Selling small or inexpensive items has never worked for me, it's not worth the time to wrap them up and go to the post office.

If you want to make a business out of it you have to get into the laser show side of lasers, there's a lot more money in that.

I was considering making an Australian laser store that only sells things legal in Australia, Eg: 1mW pointers, labbys, modules, diodes, etc. It's not going to happen anytime soon, possibly in the distant future though. Although I know it would be hard work :cryyy:
 
it really is hard work. Takes up a lot of time. you have to learn photogrpahy, photoshop, web hosting, dreamweaver,html, css, php code. The list continues with trust worthy supplier networks from china and elsewhere, design of heat sinks and tolerances, possibly a CAD program if you don't already know one, shipping and the personalities of different countries customs towards lasers and maybe some basic marketing.

I had help with mine and it still isn't finished. so yes it takes some hard work...:P

edit: oh and payment methods and selling fees and such...

well if you decide you want to start one, it helps to have someone who has been through all of it. I might be able to help you avoid a headache or two. :)

Orr just use a premade online sales system like ZenCart and call it a day ;)
 
haha that only gets you so far, but yeah zen cart makes it a lot easier than starting from scratch.
 
Me and 2 other guys own a company already and one of the guys is very, very good at this stuff, he set up our whole website :)
 
I've been running my site for like 5 years now. 4 or 5 years ago it was very profitable but now I keep running it just for fun. You have to enjoy the hobby and do it for fun for a site to last :)

Google Adwords can get lots of customers, as well as LPF.
