Re: Build: Tri-Diode laser Est. 5.6W

For many optic applications, I use dental
UV cure adhesive. It cures using a 405 nm
laser and no fumes to coat lenses.

I should try that out next time! How much power does it take to cure it?

why do you have to use such old epoxies, its taking to long .. :na:

I have 24h epoxy, 1h expoxy and 5 min epoxy. 5 minutes is too short for this :p

so hows the build coming along now? waiting in anticipation :O

Alignment never gets easier :p

I thought it would be now that I know what I'm doing, but apparently not.

I have some large chunks on time this weekend when I can sit down and do some alignment for hours. Apparently this one is going to take just as long as the last one, it's really tedious work.

Re: Build: Tri-Diode laser Est. 5.6W

Wave plate has been aligned and glued down. Diodes have been aligned horizontally.

Pre-alignment dot. The bottom beam will me moved up to perfectly overlap onto the top dot.

Cube and mirror, you can also see how I mounted the wave plate directly onto the lens barrel to save space.

I like that close up shot of the PBS!

Re: Build: Tri-Diode laser Est. 5.6W

What kind of camera are you using?

Some photos were taken with a Nikon D5000 (with an 18-55 I think?), the cube photo was taken with a Nikon coolpix L110.

Re: Build: Tri-Diode laser Est. 5.6W

Those are some nice cameras! I cant wait until this laser is fully operational. What are you running those diodes at to align them?

Re: Build: Tri-Diode laser Est. 5.6W

I buy lots of cheap optics on ebay and use them in builds when I can. If you keep your eye open you can score some great deals, a while ago there was some NIB Edmund mirrors that normally sell for 50$ for 2$ each, the transmission on them is phenomenal.

For the things I don't already have (or have but not the best transmissions) I buy from Rob at Stanwax. Lots of budget optics and they perform amazingly for the price.
Stanwax Laser entertainment laser services, parts & laser projectors.
I highly recommend them, great service.

Aligned the cube today, just the mirror left on the blue diodes :)

Re: Build: Tri-Diode laser Est. 5.6W

Fantastic work you do. Would you have a parts list, for this and the dual diode blue, very specific with a vendor list for those of us that could buy a little at a time then ship to you for fine tuning?. Or is that a dumb idea?.

You can get the diodes/lens' from DTR, Optics are on ebay, drivers from lazerer, and the host is from Mrcrouse. :)
